Got a camel^3 alert, it is the cheapest so far, don't know if there are any expiry for the $40 discount. Shipping is USD10 / ~AUD15 on my account. Calculated with Amazon US doing the currency conversion on the total of USD187.02. I have been using the Amazfit Band 5 for the last 2 years and it is pretty good, so time for an upgrade! Though working in research leads me to question the accuracy of the SpO2 measurements with these types of reflective oximeters, something is still better than nothing.

Reflective SPO2 measurement is nowhere near as accurate but it's better than nothing. The biggest problem with wrist spo2 measurement is not being able to align the sensor on an artery.

Small study on 24 participants (probably healthy) with one technology (Apple Watch 6) cannot be generalised on the general population nor on all technologies. But it is a step in the right direction.

Yep healthy, practically kept as still as possible, with no exercise for at least 30 minutes prior to the experiment, great if you want to check the oxygen saturation for the otherwise healthy comatosed patient with the smart watch 😁

      • I've read that study as well, right now there is still a lot of variability in terms of skin tone, the original oximeter from HP I think it's 7+ wavelength, now it is mostly down to 3. All these oximeters is on the FDA 510k (so for "equivalent" devices), which harks back to the transmissive oximeters. Those one at least let some (unofficial) access to some of the API so it is not locked to one crappy app. It is tempting to think about rolling my own.

      • It's in a lab setting where the watch was optimally located on the wrist. Wrist based spo2 devices are calibrated to healthy/"normal" individuals. They report measurements using multiple sensors and algorithms. Wear too loose, have "too much" hair, more fat in the wrists and they will react differently. I'd also suggest a sudden reduction in spo2 is much easier to detect than gradual decay as was seen in early covid cases.

  • A$160 now

    • You mean US$160…

      • Ah yes, didn't twig it was Amazon US, but actually US$170 shipped, so still cheaper, but that's Amazon pricing (here one minute, changed the next).

    • +10% GST… You can look at the price history on 🐪 ³

  • No NFC is a deal breaker 😔

  • expired, don't know why this is locked so can't edit it to reflect the deal expiry.
