Looks like it has non-standard lugs so you won't be able to change the bracelet to anything else, but it has Sapphire & Solar so thought it was worth posting.

    • Is the bracelet fixed then or can it be changed if you have the correct tool/s?
Looks a lot of watch for not much money….do Casio's hold their value eg, would it likely sell for $100+ in 2 years if in good condition?

      • +2

I've never had this type of bracelet but you must be able to remove it. However because of the way it connects to the case you won't be able to fit a standard strap (watch the youtube video).

Not sure about resale, that would just be speculation.

        • +1

          fit a standard strap

Thanks WN, I see what you mean now.

Bought a Casio edifice at Myer for $180ish in 2014 and sold it off FB market in 2019 for around the same price.
And it was nowhere as nice as this one (no solar, no sapphire) hence I'd say yes, easy $100

      • +1

in this range people buy new ….get new owner warranty and deals often have free shipping ….

      • Some Casios hold their value but this particular model is unlikely. 48mm is very large (if you think the Samsung Galaxy Watch is a little big, this is bigger still), integrated lugs are generally unpopular (some exceptions) and the movement is quartz. Generally I'd be hesitant to say it'd sell for $50, let alone $100.

However, its a reliable watch. If you're buying one to wear yourself you can't really go wrong.

Member since 2016, only 1 comment, this one. What happened lol. You only need one buyer, plenty of people looking for big watches, go to JB hi-fi and check the range for smart watches for example. 48mm may be big on paper, doesn't mean it wears big.

          • +4

@ShouldIBuyIt: Made an account, didn't use OzB for a while.

Got back into it in 2019, didn't feel like commenting till now I guess.

You really do only need one buyer, that's true. However selling on 2nd hand you need to consider consumers.

Watch fans do love their Casios but generally it's the F91Ws, G Shock GA 2100s or G Shock DW 5600s (a few others also make the cut but it's a handful). We're also removed from the mid-2010s and enthusiasts generally prefer watches < 42mm. Big watches just aren't "trendy". Integrated bracelet is also polarising - unless the bracelet is exceptional it's not really an easy sell either.

Non-watch enthusiasts interested in the watch are likely to buy it new, especially considered the price. They won't want to deal with potential faults, even if they're not present.

So you're left with a very small group of people interested in the piece. You reduce that small pool further by advertising it at $100. It's a quality watch, but not particularly popular.

@Papa Huggies: I only have one 48mm watch in mind and its definitely not a casio or edifice. But most of what you say is true that most prefer <=42mm

For $151, this watch will last you over decades

    Diameter - 48mm

    Goddamn!

      Some like it big.

      • That's what he said

I recently bought EFVC100D-1A with a with shittier specs for about the same price, and similar dimensions. It should fit fine on a 6.5in wrist, it might look ridiculous, but it'd fit. I can post pic on my 6.7in wrist if anyone wants.

I got the watch because I've always wanted a Edifice just for fun. They're cheap. They sponsor F1. I love ana-digi shit. This one lasts 10 years on a common cheap battery. And most importantly it has a telememo that can store 30 phone numbers, which is hilarious and reminds me of the casios I had when I was a kid.

But I'd probably buy this one if I didn't already have one

Not sure I'm allowed to do this, but I got mine from here: https://edificeaustralia.com.au/products/efvc100d-1a
I got a pamphlet with a promo code EDIFICE-TY-15 for 15% off, that can be used 100 times. I have nothing to do with that store

    • +1

      Send wrist pics pls

    • Correct me if wrong, so the main difference between this OP and yours is the sapphire glass barring telememo feature isn't it.
IMO I like the model you've purchased. Could pls post pic with it on your wrist. Cheers.

      • And no solar, larger and ana-digi

      • +1

There are quite a few differences, you can compare them on the Amazon page for the OP post and my link in my first post.

I would buy this instead of the one OP posted if only this one has solar as well. Solar has much value for me. So thanks OP, ordered 1.

      • +4

Solar has it's issues too. The batteries don't last forever and do discharge if you don't wear them enough. I had to replace a battery on Seiko solar recently and had to do research on what battery on what movement, and how to not (profanity) it up. But it only cost me $40, if you already have the tools. I reguarly move my watch box with solars outside on a sunny day just to keep them charged.

        • Thanks for the info.

        • Agreed on this, my solar watches cause me the most issues. My seiko solar cant even charge properly because i rotate usage of my watches and it doesnt get any light when in watch winder. So my quartz and mechanicals are more reliable.
In saying that the watch WN posted is a killer deal for the specs

    • Not solar and sapphire glass like the OP deal watch but yours has a strap that can be changed up. 30 numbers is cool! Great price too.

    Finally a 48mm watch.

  • +2

very nice watch, but 48mm is waaaaayyyy too big for my chicken wrist, but still want to buy tho…….

    • Lol, what size is your wrist?

  • I'm a big advocate for Edifice watches. They make great watches for the price. This one looks like a steal. I have a different solar/sapphire model and it's amazing.

  • +6

This post caused me to seriously look at the Edifice range.
I really liked some aspects and almost pulled the trigger several times.
I eventually settled on this one:
    https://au.hsjohnson.com/products/ecb-s100d-2aef-stainless-s…

$204 delivered. Similar specs, but with an interesting Bluetooth smart phone link as well and in my opinion a little more attractive, especially the grill pattern on the dial.

    • +1

      Looking good!

      • The hardest part of the purchase was narrowing down to the one.
These motor racing edifice watches look great. I like watches on the larger side anyway, so the 48mm is not a problem for me. Quite thin too at less than 10mm

    • +2

They have an ebay store as well, that watch came to $194 from their ebay store (with $5 ebay plus voucher)
They sell some decent brands. Roamer is also there if anyone is interested in a swiss level entry.

  • Citizen EFSS550DB is popular and looks a good deal. Sapphire crystal, standard logs, eco-drive, but 47mm and around $225.
