Hi, just after opinions. Has anyone travelled business or economy with JAL? Would you recommend them? Thanks for your help.

haven't flown with them for a few years (used them heaps when i lived in Japan) they provide great service.
Have to Japan many times. Previously used Jetstar but since moved to JAL.
787 is a great plane but JAL offered direct flights where no other does (at the time). Was great boarding Melbourne at midnight and then getting off at 9am in Japan
Yes, very nice. Nice seats, entertainment, food and service. Although the prick in front of me reclined his seat the whole way which annoyed me.
Highly recommend them. If you have kids, they give them so much stuff, too. They gave my kids a cutlery set, that we still use 4 years later
My partner had a headache on the flight and they walked out with an entire medicine kit and basically told her to take her pick of a rather large range of painkillers. I was so tempted to grab the ambien and have a nice nap.
I remember someone getting angry that the staff wouldn't go get them a cup of tea while we were going through turbulence (drinks cart wasn't out at the time either). The expectations of people on the flight seemed really high. This was economy too.
@Muzeeb & your point is?
Just balancing the reviews.
But it isn’t ‘balanced’.If you want to go down that track,Pan Am & KLM @ Tenerife.Korean air shot out of the skies, Pan Am over Lockerbie.MAS over Russia,MAS lost over the ocean(still not recovered).United Airlines over the Pacific Ocean a door came off, souls including a stewardess lost.Nothing new.Aircraft accidents happen it is a fact of life.
@Hackney: But the topic was about JAL
@MS Paint: But you brought up the accident ‘post’. JAL has exemplary history otherwise.Would not stop me flying with them ever.
@Hackney: I agree. Awesome airline.
Yeah,but none of those passengers left negative reviews so…..
@altomic: There were 4 survivors - amazing after flying a 747 into a mountain.
All survivors were in the rear of the plane. Makes sense I guess because I can't recall the last time a plane reversed into a mountain.
You're right, they didn't leave reviews.
Agree with the above. Very comfortable.
Great airline.Business is very good.Highly recommend them, as well as ANA.
All Nippon Air needs to have a L tacked onto the end of their code so people know they're a Liner like JAL it would be like ANA +L Flying everywhere..
My experience flying JAL was incredible, blew my mind away.
Economy seat comes with extra leg room. Also, when travelling internationally (not sure about domestic), you get to bring two full size luggage, each can be filled up to 30kg.
When I went to Japan in 2019, I went with only 2 full size luggage, returned with 4 full size luggage. :D
Yup. They're good, one of the better ones.
Worse I've travelled on was Philippine Airline.
As long as you avoid any Boeing Aircraft, all good. Scum company.
I've flown both JAL's premium economy and economy.
Prior to COVID, they used to fly MEL-NRT-HEL (with a Finnair codeshare at the end) using 787s. It was my favourite way to get to Europe. Sadly, they've moved their Helsinki service to HND so it's no longer available.
Their economy on the 787s is wonderful. Nice wide seats with lots of legroom in a 2-4-2 configuration (vs much narrower 3-3-3 seating on other airlines). Out of Japan, their food is pretty good too, with frequent tie-ins to Japanese fast food chains. About the only downside is that their cabins can be warm.
I can't recommend their premium economy, but this is only because their regular economy is so good. Premium economy offers a little more leg room along with access to their Udon de Sky and champagne. Not worth it…
Great airline. Flown business just pre covid and the service was amazing. especially loved their anytime menu onboard. Feels like your own suite if you get a window seat too.
Did you fly on their 787-9? Looking at booking one of those for next year
Yep. it was on the 787-9. From memory it was 2-2-2, but the window seat still has direct aisle access due to its layout
Thanks for the info mate think I'll end up pulling the trigger
Better than Qantas in every way but that it is not hard these days.
Better cabin service and the staff are young, friendly and professional.Business class flights with them are are just great. Great staff/food and hard product. Take the Japanese food option for a treat.
one of the best airlines i have flown with.
They are excellent. Even in economy is a pleasant experience. Try and get a 787, 2-4-2 config whereas most airlines have 3-3-3.
