Seems like a decent deal for an i9 12900H and RTX 3070ti (not sure on TDP) unfortunately it only has a 1080p screen which is a bit disappointing for these specs.

Cashrewards and ShopBack both have 4% cashback on G series laptops at Dell bringing the price down to about $2437.

The early black friday sales at Dell specifically on Alienware don't look great which is pretty disappointing.

    What's wrong with 1080p on a 15" screen?

It's not bad but a QHD display is a nice to have especially when the hardware is capable of driving it.

    • With a 12900H and RTX 3070ti 1440p would be nicer IMO

If you were sitting at the distance a person would sit from a TV, 1080p is good. But when sitting less than a half metre from the screen as someone does with a laptop, 1440p and above is significantly better - even noticeably better when looking at something as small as a phone / ipad screen.

only one ssd interface for a gaming laptop…

    • I believe the previous version of the G15 had two slots but you needed a support bracket which was not included.
I guess a lot of people complained so Dell's solution seems to be to remove the second NVMe slot altogether.
You can see the spot on the PCB where the second NVMe used to go just without the connector soldered on.

Once you go to a 4K laptop, there's no going back unfortunately. If I look at a FHD screen my eyes burn in pain lmao

Much better to wait for semi recuring 2199$ deals from Dell Ebay like this one with 12700H instead of 12900H and with otherwise identical specs. Extra 300$+ saved can go towards a decent 27' QHD165hz IPS monitor in a sale nowadays.

The difference between a 'i9'-12900H and i7-12700H is minimal this gen, you get slightly better clocks as its a better binned chip and thats it, everything else is virtually the same on both chips. Whats made even more pathetic is that starting from 12th gen all non-HK/HX chips are hard locked out of voltage control so for a i9 chip you cant even undervolt.

    • You can't undervolt an i9? What is the point!

      • easier to trick ill informed people to part ways with their hard earned cash

        • Damn shame. I have the 11th gen i9 in my Legion 7 and undervolting is needed to get the most out of it.

I would say get this instead

for just a few bucks more you get FAR better cooling, build, screen, 32 GB RAM, 2 years premium (on site) warranty.. Lenovo cashback on cashrewards had gone up to 16% a few times recently for similar pricing with cashback

    • Am i missing something, the one you linked is 3700 w/ 16% off?

      • that's Lenovo for you, price jumping up and down

it was $2849 2 days ago

I got it with 16% cashrewards and $200 in Lenovo rewards
