DJI Mini 2 - Is This a Good Deal or Wait for Black Friday Sales?

https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B08JGX61H7

According to camel x3 i can pick up a dji mini 2 + fly more combo for $599 (+$39 ish delivery) from America (via Amazon)

Pretty decent given they are around $950rrp here.

So my question is, do i pull the trigger on this or wait and see if there are any sales in aus for Black Friday.

Personally i dont think it will be cheaper on sale in Australia even during Black Friday sales, but I don’t know enough about DJI to make that call.

I’m not after a newer or fancier model, just one under a K to mess around with and see if it’s something I’d enjoy.

Thanks for your help!

Edit: Thanks for helping me see the big error i was overlooking! Im open to suggestions or recommendations for ways to get one cheaper or even just a bit of drone chat.

Where do you plan on flying it?

    $599 (+$39 ish delivery)

    USD or AUD?

    • Remote rural areas far out of the city.

Prices are Au and apparently all taxes fees inc.

      • Nice.

        • Although i just clicked on it again and refreshed and no longer see $599Aud 🫢

Sooo perhaps not the best deal if its in USD. Bah…
Can’t even tell when adding to cart if its going to charge AU or USD.

That's $599USD. Postage included, that comes up to about $960 direct converted. Add an extra 5% on top of that for actual rates you'd be paying, and that's around the same price as here in Australia. (EDIT: Official price after conversion - $1018AUD)

So no, not worth it. Buy locally or wait for sales.

If you want a drone for a lower price, consider the DJI Mini SE Flymore pack for $619 at JBHifi. I have one myself and find it to be amazing.

    • Thanks mate, i thought it may be too good to be true.

How do you find the SE?
I was leaning towards it as i don’t plan on doing anything too tricky or silly with it but got tempted by the better camera and range of the mini 2.

I’m no photographer and pretty much will take some pics of trucks in the bush and the odd coastal pic.

The range and ocusync (or whatever its called) for the mini 2 appeals to me as a novice user as it makes me slightly more confident of not losing signal then losing the drone.

      • The mini se flymore is about $570 from DJI directly on eBay using code TOPITUP

        • That’s pretty good, quite tempting too.

But then there’s always the FOMO of a good deal in a couple weeks.
Do DJI discount their older models or work on the old Apple method of never substantially discounting their products?

            @El cheepo: I'm not sure.

I had a drone briefly (took photos and videos of my rural property), played around with its features etc but at the end of the day it's really limited what you can do with these legally.

Lost interest because of that and never really followed the market prices.

I purchased used and sold it 4 months later for the same price.

            • @MS Paint: Thanks for sharing mate, actually quite insightful.

I figure the same thing will happen with me haha.

  • Not sure if DJI have fixed their issues since but had massive problems getting my Samsung S21 to run the DJI app and connect to the drone.

    • Once connected were there issues? Eg: losing signal etc?

      • I should rephrase that as never got it working with the Samsung. Had to dig out a slightly older iPhone to run the app and then connect.

        • That’s quite a bit annoying.

I Figured with my iPhone it should be ok, but won’t know till i try i guess.

I bought a DJI refurbished Mini 2. It felt very similar to the unboxing of the original Mini and looked brand new, no regrets on going for the refurb and saving a bunch of cash.
