How else you going to get uncompressed 4K HDR video + uncompressed 7.1.4 channel audio?

      • +6

Exactly this. People buying cutting edge display tech all over the place and struggle to understand why anyone buys a disc. "But streaming!"

        • +1

          Yarrr that’s right.

        • +2

They also can’t post edit/censor physical media

        • +1

I guess it does also depend on the film, some masters are pretty crap and then there is no perceived difference but most of the time the difference is noticeable absolutely. The audio is almost always night and day different though. But then also how many of us actually went all in and spent thousands on audio setups so for the above average consumer who has a decent OLED they maybe have a mediocre soundbar and probably won't hear any difference between streaming and disc.

      I get ya.

I don't own an optical drive, not even in any of the laptops at home or in the office.

I'd rather download a purchased copy than have the mail man ship a physical old style circle of polycarbonate like it's 1995.

Obviously going by your negs and soon mine, we're too stupid to realise pushing discs into mechanical spinny things is still the best way to get data from one place to another within our homes.

The reviews made me laugh 'perfect 4K, not perfect 4K' what does that mean?
Sounds like they're confusing resolution with detail?

It could be remastered in 16K and the resolution is still limited by the 1980's analogue technology used to capture, including the optics in front of the film plane.

4K isn't a measure of picture quality, it's just the number of pixels on a display.

I ain't got time to bleed

      You got time to duck?

  • It should include Prey ffs

      Um… Release date ‏ : ‎ 12 December 2018

  • Get To The Choppa!

  • Buy this before they include the prequel in the boxset lol

    • Prefer if they took out Predator 2 and replaced it with Prey.

      • Holy christ wash yo mouth out!

        • Predator's a classic.
For me, Predators and Prey are about a 7/10.
And for me, Predator 2 is about a 6/10.
          ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@theory: Yeah and they should take every copy of The Predator (2018) out of these boxsets and burn them.

Prey was a way better Predator movie than The Predator.

@St Nick: A lot of people would lynch you for that comment.

Im inclined to agree, I absolutely loved Prey.

              • @Franc-T: SPOILERS

I would love to meet any defenders of a film that put forth the idea that autism is the next step in evolution and the predators are coming to earth just to harvest the spinal fluid of an autistic child.

                Absolutely ridiculous.

  • I might have to get this. But 4K is a bit wasted on it. It’s an 80s movie shot in analog film. Should be fine in 1080p bluray.

    • Only 1 of the 4 films here are 80s films… and I just watched them all recently in 4K, they look incredible.

    • Actually movies filmed on 35mm film can have a resolution equivalent of up to 6k.

      • Actually more like 16K or even 32k. Depending on the grain structure

        • How does that work? I'd have thought that each adjacent pixel in a 4K resolution would be fairly similar in colour and luminosity given the "blurriness" of the analog film (an assumption of mine). So going higher just means the pixels are even more similar, hence why I was thinking that a "low" resolution 1080p would still look good. Or is the analog original quite "sharp" to begin with?

I bought it anyway, will be keen to see the movie. :)
