Best Cheap Power Supply Unit

So my computer seems to be turning off quite often on me.

I'm looking to replace my power supply. It's a 500w. Have an i5 7600 and GTX 1060 6gb. Looking for the cheapest option that will last.

Looking for suggestions?

Looking for the cheapest option that will last.

That's what got you into this situation in the first place :/

Never cheap out on PSU for a PC …

    • Yep a $50 power supply will fry a $2k PC too often to feel comfortable.

  • There are other reasons a computer turns off other than PSU issues.

The recommended minimum PSU with a GTX 1060 is 450W. But even that is only required with a very conservative calculation and a lot of other power consuming stuff in the PC. The GTX 1060 itself only uses 120W. The i5 7600 only uses 65W. So that's only 185W for the two biggest power consumers in the PC, that between them use most of the power the PC uses. That leaves an awful lot left of the 500W your PSU can deliver.

  • Don't cheap out. Pay a reasonable price for a reasonable brand power supply.

    500W Thermaltake is only $50. Generic starts at $30 - $40.

    $60 for a SilverStone SST-ET500 Essential SST-ET500 500W 80+ Bronze Power Supply

"Cheap" and "Power supply" shouldn't be in the same sentence

Except "Never cheap out on your power supply"

Okay you got me there lol

  • Never had issues with Seasonics - Get one of those and you'll be right.

    • Your experiences are very subjective and small sample size, ive had 1 seasonic power supply actually blow up and another 2 fail out of 5 total. However warranty is top notch except for dealing with the australian representative, they try to do anything and everything to get out of their obligations for warranty. 2 out 2 rmas ive had to argue to get the warranty actually accepted, and 1 of the times i had to goto seasonic directly which forced the aus rep to accept my claim.

  • What makes you think power supply? Is it turning off under load?

I had the same problem recently, turned out to be a dying SSD.
