Seiko Zen Garden SSA443J $635.00 Delivered (RRP $925.00) @ Starbuy

250

What can I say, a very nice looking watch. A thousand might be too much for it, but six hundred seams reasonable to me :)

    Wow, that's gorgeous

  • Unfortunate it has the open heart and the 24 hour dial. Would be a easy purchase otherwise

    • As someone who is relatively new to watches could you please enlighten me as to why these are unfortunates?

      • Personal preference, I don't like the open heart as it cuts a hole into a beautiful dial, and I don't like the 24 hour timer as there is no use for it (especially on a dress watch).

        I'd prefer something like this

But I do love the red accents on the one in this deal

        • I have both xD
Anyway, I don't particularly like useless elements either, however the 24-hour dial being red really adds the flavour. I fee like there would be not enough red accent otherwise.
But then again, it's all taste.

        • They should have also accented the SEIKO in red….to make it noice, different, unusual.

Some people don't like extra complications or cluttered dials. But as the responder said, it's all about personal preference, so take your time and buy what you like, because you will be the one wearing it.

I have 30 watches, one of them open heart, which for me is the right number with that feature.

But buy what you want - 99% of people don't care what watches you wear or have in your watch box. Even fellow watch enthusiasts probably can't tell what watch you are wearing unless you stop and show them up close (watches get really hard to make out for certain from anything more than a few metres away). This is double especially true for Seiko who produce many many models.

  • Beautiful watch, but probably too big for most people. I googled images of this watch, and it looks comically huge in every photo of someone wearing it.
I've never owned a physical watch, except for a $15 digital Casio I got in America 10 years ago, and a cheap pulsar I got from work 15 years ago. After about a year, both of these watches looked liked they'd been run over with a car several times. I would like to purchase a physical watch (with sapphire glass) in the near future, but this one is unfortunately too big.

    • I honestly think the opposite. Watches less than 40mm look rather "comically small" to me, like a lady watch. It might be because of my wrist size, but I don't think it's any unusual. Luckily, this hobby provides options for all of us :)

Also depends on the watch. Seiko Samurais, for example, are 43.8 mm but they don't look that big on wrist because of the bezel. This particular watch I think looks larger, though not quite 42 mm, because it's bright white and no bezel.

But I have a few 38 mm watches that are fairly prominent. I wouldn't go below 38, I think that is where you get lady sizes (36 mm and down). 17 cm / 6.75 in wrist for me.
