      True.. inflation. Almost everything wasn't so expensive earlier. Hope they will get the older price back if inflation gets in control. Supermarkets never did it with milk so we can't say.

        Inflation pretty much causes things to get more expensive permanently. Tou can only hope that they don't keep going up.

        The problem is the Pepsico model is being used. They've increased prices in the US by 17% in the past quarter with no decrease in sales (infact many lines increased). So the companies will bump up prices, blaming inflation and then pocket record profits.

        In this post-covid world people are spending money because they have job security (ie low unemployment) and really don't care about money. It's looking like the post Spanish flu roaring 20's all over again… It'll come crashing down in a few years.

          Probably more so in a few months if things keep going this way, not years.

            In an ideal world yes, competition would come into play. But whilst consumers are spending and shareholders are seeing monster profits with other companies, like PepsiCo, they'll be demanding their companies also increase profits.

            The media keep telling people things are really tough and wheel out some examples, the average joe blow doesn't seem to care. They're not fearful of losing their jobs. Retail is going gangbusters, people are still eating out and spending money. Tradies, who are a good bellwether, are still in short supply and charging high prices, aren't seeing their work slow down. Business seem to be hiring in almost all sectors (retail, construction, white collar, govt, services, mining).

            I don't expect the price increase to keep happening, there will be a point where they'll price themselves out of the market, but I can't see them reducing prices as they want to keep their profits as their shareholders demand and executives get more supersized bonuses.

          Yes all depends, each liquid has a safety data sheet that determines how it can be transported.
