Dam just a tad too slow for a ps5 ?

    • I keep hoping for a nice cheap PS5 SSD - but they are all too slow

      • +1

That's It I could go a 1tb but these prices for 2tb and it's under the "recommended" 5600mbs but not required specs for a drive so it could work ?

      • Have you looked into the Netac NV7000 SSD deal listed on ozbargain? Lessor known brand but may meet your needs on speed and price and comes with Heatsink that will fit a PS5.

    • It should work and supposedly at this point there's barely any difference in real world performance between the slowest and fastest drives but who knows what the future will bring

I have been using this in my PS5 the last 4 months, no issues.

      • Does it fit with heatsink?

        • +1

Yep, there is a metal cover that I popped off but otherwise fits well.

Fantastic will grab one then !

Sony recommends a read speed of at least 5,500mbs for PS5. This SSD may technically work now but you could potentially have issues in future as games may be designed with the min speed in mind that this SSD cannot meet and if so it will not be Sony's fault if it happens as they did warn customers and give a official minimal speed recommendation.

          • @User50301: Fair point, I would negate this risk by running any "ultra high speed" games from the in-built SSD. All the PS5 games I have tried to date run on the MP600 with no adverse effects.

That’s a different drive with different NAND

  • No way that heatsink is going to fit in my laptop.

    • You can remove it.

        Only with consent.

  • Damn finally

  • endurance is a bit low… only 450TBW

  • I feel like this is an awesome fit for a PS5, as most of the operation will be Reads, with minimum/infrequent writes.

Has anybody confirmed that this particular model and its heatsink fits a PS5 without having to replace the heatsink?

Tempted to take the plunge. Worst case scenario if a particular game really requires the 5500MBps read rate, i can always shuffle the games around between main game drive and the M2.

Edit: Ah I didn't see the comment above, I think I will take plunge

  • Looking for a 2TB drive for my new rig…it is just a games drive. This or the Cruicial MX500 ?
