Lenovo Computer Troubleshooting

Please help me with some troubleshooting as I am at a loss with what to do further.

I was gaming on my desktop when suddenly there was a BSOD crash. Restarted my computer and there was no video output on the screen detected by the monitor. At this point I am presuming my GPU has gone on the blink.

That's okay, I proceed to open the case and remove the GPU. I then connect my PC's VGA output from the motherboard directly to my monitor. Still no output. I try a second monitor. Same result.

In summary: My computer is still powering on, but I cannot get an output to any monitor I try to connect to in lieu of onboard graphics the system cannot display an output. Hence my theory that the GPU is dead is still the probable cause.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

Is this using a Intel Xeon or Core i3/i5/i7 CPU? Note that Intel Xeon CPU's don't have a integrated graphics processor, you'll need to test with a dedicated GPU

Other simple things you can try is hitting CMOS clear jumper and re-seating the RAM and/or testing different memory slot configurations

    • It's a Xeon processor. I figured as much :( If I recall correctly, the BIOS is preconfigured to UEFI secureboot which means I will have to find a newer GPU (with UEFI) to test it, because my understanding is that equivalent older cards will not work. The original Quadro 4000 is an old card but it's the original and plays a bunch of games on low settings. I'll try to find a cheap card I can test with further and/or be able to return if necessary. Otherwise I will probably have to junk this machine because I don't want too spend an inordinate amount of time and money diagnosing the issue as it rarely gets used.

I'll try your other suggestions. Thanks.
