My current Google Pixel 3xl is having issues with battery and keeps on shutting down for about 30 mins of use. I am planning to buy a new iPhone at the end of this year. What cheap phone options that I can buy in the meantime.

Do you have any friends who have recently upgraded? Find someone that has a hand-me-down phone that they're no longer using and use that for the next month and a half.
