Samsung S22 Ultra - Who Has One?

I am looking at buying a Samsung S22 Ultra and wondering what opinions current owners have about them. Are they as good as they're out to be?

I specifically like the SPen as I think it would be easier to use with the Xero (accounting/busibess) app, but is the pen functional, easy to retrieve/replace etc?

Also concerned about battery usage. How long does a charge last? I use a lot of screen time for navigation.

Any thoughts or comments?

My 7 year old has been learning this in school lately. Might be relevant.

The THINK acronym gives us five questions to consider in that moment before we say something to lessen the number of times we wish we had said something differently, and improve our results in many ways.

      Here are the five questions:

      Is it True?
      Is it Helpful?
      Is it Inspiring?
      Is it Necessary?
      Is it Kind?

      • nice! this is actually wise advice for anyone

I have one. I dont use the pen. Battery life is good probably the best galaxy s for many years.

If you use it for nav in the car get one of those wireless charger/holder combos

    • Great idea with the wireless in-car. The amount of times I've ripped the cord out of my old phone or just forgotten to even plug it in….

    • What is your battery life and use? If I use mine frequently during the day, I am usually 15% by end of day.

Having wireless and super charging makes this a non issue, but if I were out with no access to charging it'd be an issue.

      • Yeah if i don't charge it can be 15-35% by the time I go to bed. Previously couple models I had to charge during the day.

My day can vary a lot - ie a lot of wifi access vs none or poor 4g/5g coverage or high vs low usage.

As others have pointed out I FHD+ my screen resolution - my eye sight doesn't need the high res anyways.

  • I have been using s pen almost forever snce I owned their note series phones. its very handy, gives you a feeling if you always carrying your pen (like in shirt pocket in the past, which I was). note taking and calender organising made really easy by S pen. its an awesome, top of the range and you might get user reviews, camera quality etc on google or YT. their PEN UP app is amazing and works as stress reliever for me while painting pictures. I know it sounds silly doing painting, which I never did, never into art stuff, but since I am using it I can paint, create and post share pictures among other users. I m not heavy usert but battery last aroubd two days for me easy.

    • Great to hear about the pen. I wondered whether it would be more gimmicky. I have issues with needing to zoom using Xero and hoped the pen would fix that problem. Sounds promising.

  • I bet it should as some smng ads/yt share "moon zoom", I reckon go get check at voda or telstra stores, good luck!!!

  • Got one, battery life is decent but becomes excellent if you reduce the resolution of your screen to FHD instead of QHD. Can be easily changed in the display settings. Can easily get 6+ hours of screen time with heavy usage without charging the entire day.

s23 ultra will be out in few months Jan/Feb might as well wait unless you getting a big discount

  • Got one, The SPen is actually fantastic. It uses some AI that predicts where the pen is going to go so it feels like there's zero lag, like you're writing on paper.

  • Sold mine, battery for my use was terrible and I'm a very light user (Watch 5 pro paired, mainly email and notifications, 1-1.5hr SOT a day as I'm normally in front of a laptop on WIFI).

On days where I would be heavily using it, could squeeze out 5-6hrs but thats basically emptying the battery and on single digits. Culprit is 8 Gen 1 chip and terrible standby optimisation.

Since switched to a Pixel 7 Pro and ending days on 85-90% with the same above light usage as opposed to 30%.

YMMV but thats my 2 cents

  • Had the S21 Ultra, liked the S22 S-Pen so much that I upgraded to S22 with a so-so exchange deal.
