It might be more interesting to have a non-'audiophile' (or 2,3 etc) explain why they are the best given that they would clearly be a position to accurately assess such things.
Need the right hardware to drive them to be able to make that assessment too. No good plugging them into your mobile phone. Won't cut it.

Often thought of getting HiFiMan (open phones)- but after hearing about the poor quality control, bits coming apart (and paying whatever $500 - $600 for reasonable model) and being made by a Chinese Company, decided not to.
These Dan Clark's may be very good (closed phones) on Drop at US$429 admittedly expensive with all the fees on top.
Drop also have Aeon Open X phones at $449 - not sure how compare with reviews in quality of sound with HiFiMan Open models ?
