Anyone Ever Able to Get A PROPER Compensation from eBay or Auspost for Not Getting Item You Won at Super Deal or Auction?

Just after people's experiences when Auspost lose or cannot deliver your parcel that you bought from eBay.

I know generally with Amazon they would compensate with the Promotional credits, to cover price difference between item price now and item price paid.

But how's people's experience with eBay?

Especially when you like used vouchers, coupons, Gift cards, Afterpay discounts etc. to basically score a deal even better than selling price on eBay?

Are people always stuck with gift cards and in loss, losing Afterpay discounts, coupons, etc. and not even getting price difference covered by Auspost or seller or eBay?

Talking about time when you buy item from non big retailer, aka small business, or individuals etc.

Anytime?

I’d say chances are pretty slim. eBay is just the marketplace and doesn’t sell the items themselves unlike Amazon.
As for Auspost, the agreement is between the seller and them. If an item is lost, the seller has to pursue them for compensation. Buyer should not be involved.

    • I think there need to be a shift to get Buyer directly compensated from AUSPOST.

Most individual sellers or small businesses wont be bothered to do all the compensation stuff with AUSPOST.

AND AFTERALL its not really seller in loss, Only person in loss in BUYER, who paid for item + postage. Buyer in all cases would want all of his item value or money paid (whichever is higher) to be paid to him directly. + Seller doesn't really have any sentimental value for the item but buyer does usually in some or most cases.

So may be there should be a shift to allow like when posting an item that Sender can transfer off their compensatory rights to the receiver.

That's incorrect, at least in the case of eBay. If the item is lost or damaged by the courier, then eBay will side with the buyer.
At that point, the seller has to send out a replacement or refund at their own cost.
The seller will be bothered to claim compensation with Auspost/courier.

        • Until eBay doesn't refund buyer from seller, seller is under NO Loss. Nor should seller be. The case should be directly Btw buyer and AUSPOST I think

Buyer would also only want to open eBay case if buyer used coupons/vouchers/afterpay or any other discounts. Buyer would be wanting to get full order amount back and getting compensation directly in form of single payment method is lot more preferred.
Also seller is likely not going to cover the item price difference.

The seller will be bothered to claim compensation with Auspost/courier.

I doubt it, most of individual hustlers are just busy people who hardly get a time to deal with all this. Auspost will not compensate them properly by e.g. not having bought insurance or lower claim by like having no sentimental value. etc.

          • @USER DC: Unfortunately, that’s just how it is sometimes.
It’s not unique to eBay. If a store sells an item during a sale but it gets lost or damaged and they have no replacement stock then the buyer is only entitled to what they paid.
Some stores will go the extra and provide a discount to similar items but YMMV.

The buyer will be opening case so it’s only a matter of time before seller has to pay. I think it’s worse for the seller. The buyer at least gets the money back. Maybe disappointed that they missed out but they don’t actually lose anything.

Nor should seller be. The case should be directly Btw buyer and AUSPOST I think

Australia Post only has up to $100 compensation if no extra cover is purchased. If the seller is not responsible after it’s sent then they won’t be buying any extra cover.

Also it is sometimes the fault of the seller. I recently bought a laptop and the dumb seller just sent it in a padded envelope. It got damaged and the seller kept trying to pin it on Auspost. I’m glad that eBay’s money back guarantee eventually got my money back. Disappointed as I’d rather the laptop but better than trying to chase Australia Post for compensation

I limit what I buy on Ebay. Recently Aliexpress has upped their game.
Generally the past was good but after some refunds for never working goods they just cut you off.
Auspost have been great. My postie even shot a picture and I got it on their app moments later showing it being dropped off as per my instructions.

    • Not going to lie
Standard parcels, and letter may be going good, But ATM EXPRESS POSTAGE with AUSPOST is kinda TRASH

IDK I feel like parcels might be delivering quicker if they were standard parcel post instead of EXPRESS POSTAGE

It is the risk you take if you use coupons and afterpay bonuses. You are trading the savings for risk. Don't buy things just because of cashback or afterpay bonuses, only buy things if you were going to buy them anyway regardless of discounts or bonuses. Then you won't be screwed when things don't work out.
