For the last few months, suddenly everyone I know—with very disparate online usage!—started getting "storage full" notifications from Google. What are the odds of that happening (versus Google applying some creative accounting toward storage use to upsell their storage plans)?
Is Google Inflating Drive Usage?

I call it the "Every time I learn a new word, everyone else around me not only already knows the word, but they also apparently use it all the time" effect.
Maybe just the notification is the bug.
Interesting, I recently got that too.
I think the most likely explanation is that people accumulate stuff at a similar average speed, and the present time is a certain number of years since Gmail stopped being invite only and they got a huge influx of new people making accounts.
most likely they don't know that google photos is not free any more and every photo they take uploads automatically and counts towards their 15 GB free google account.
Did those emails have an external link to login to Google and rectify the issue?!?
I got that recently too but for 1/6 accounts and the only one I really use drive for so it made sense to me.
I believe you can change whether or not your photos stored in Google are original quality or just high quality and that won't count toward the 15GB. When I bought Pixel 5 they had a promo of unlimited photo storage at original quality and that was only for 2 years. It could be some people just coming to the end of that.
This is only a pixel thing. Everyone else's photos/videos will always count towards the 15gb storage space.
Unless you hack your phone so google thinks it is a pixel to get free unlimited original upload like I did haha
What app are you using to sync your phone photos with pixel reliably?
@CodeXD: Thank you man I try this one
Im getting this too
I started getting it a few months ago. Got a new phone and just switched to my alt account for photo storage now.
