Dainese Super Rider D-Dry Jacket $508.21 Delivered @ Chromeburner

110

I've been looking for a new summer jacket for a while now, decided on this one. Mesh for airflow, leather for a bit of extra protection, most importantly, a removeable waterproof liner because I hate the new 'waterproof and breathable' fabrics - they just don't flow enough, and they aren't waterproof enough.

Cheapest from AU retailers atm seems to be around $800 if you can find one.

There's many other jackets at good prices, free shipping over $475.

I just don't understand why there are so many summer jackets in black

    • +3

They don't show the mould as easy as white :D

    • +2

If you want cooler (literally) black jackets, look for leather jackets that have TFL heat-resistant treatment which reflects UV rays. I know some BMW jackets have that.

I really wanted the Dainese Dinamica but there was no stock in my size (52EU) anywhere that looked trustworthy. There's still a few left here in other sizes, comes in under $475 though, so shipping.

    Nice price, good find OP.

Semi related, anyone purchasing motorbike gear- have a quick check of Motocap safety ratings (has safety ratings, abrasion times and testing conditions) on alot of gear (this jacket hasn't been tested in Australia yet) https://www.motocap.com.au

Just a heads up. Ordered tech-7 boots from them and sent notifications sent 6th Oct to be delivered 19th Oct. Still hasn't arrived. Customer service just says keep an eye on tracking which says NL customs. Just don't expect anything quickly.

    • Ordered 18th. Expected date 25-31 October. PostNL has no updates at all. Hope it comes this month.

      • Just received update from Australia Post that its in Sydney expectedly delivery sometime this week.

Find it hit and miss. Had a Nexx X.Wed2 Carbon helmet delivered in 10 days and then took > 1 month for Sidi Adventure 2 boots. And both times, the package arrived at my door before any updates saying that package had left NL.
Have found both MotardINN and FC-Moto are better on their shipping tracking.

Be sure to check out bikersgear. Aussie made and extremely cheap by comparison.

This is my go-to summer jacket.

I find denim wicking away the sweat nicer than synthetics with holes, but everyone has their own preference :)

You're trying to compare a cheap denim jacket to a cowhide leather jacket……..

      • After a couple of crashes I would never consider anything other than a leather kit.

      • +1

Denim, Kevlar, and CE padding. Including spine (which this leather lacks); Yep.

        Why do you ask?

Ive had great success in my Kevlar gear. I have a leather jacket too. I find the kevlar more comfortable in summer.

My leather is 1.4mm hide, full CE pads with spine protection and YKK zips. Same mob though.

Ive just found their gear to be good, and I like Australian Made, and owned, gear.

I can’t see anywhere in either description that said they were designed/made in Australia. Stores would be splashing Made in Australia logo all over if the item is made in Australia nowadays. I have not seen any leather motorbike gear made in Australia for a long long time… I am aware only of Draggin Kevlar jeans which are designed and made in Australia and they are usually clearly made known in store descriptions.

          • @Buy2Much: Well, now you're aware of another.

Their BGA brand is made on Phillip Island, using Australian hides.

It is indeed on the product.

They stock more than their own brand now, so clearly not everything is; but most of it is still locally made :D

Wait few more weeks for black friday sale… last year chromeburner had 10% off

Do people mix and match? I am deep into Alpinestars eco system :(

    • +3

Does it matter (unless you want to zip your pants to your jackets)? 99% of the people on the road would not even notice. The colours coordination are more noticeable. P.s. I sometimes mix different brands jackets, pants, shoes and gloves.

      • Wouldn't have thought so. I have a Mars jacket, Waldron pants and those boots from Poland that everyone gets when they find out that knee, toe and elbow sliders are a complete waste of time for anyone not racing.

    • +1

No offence, I hate it when people say ‘eco-system’ mainly used for Tech as in apple.
You should buy what you like and or need .
Get the best bang for your buck.
      Regardless of Brand.
I have a Dainese leather 72 jacket, Dainese gloves (model?). Bullit Jeans with protection, hips and knees and SiDi and also Forma Boots.
I am looking at getting Revit summer jacket. Infact going to Moto est Melbourne to try on the Tornado 3 this Saturday.

      • going to Moto est Melbourne to try on the Tornado 3

For a moment I got excited, I thought the (Benelli) Tornado Tre is coming back LOL (one of the most sexy bikes I have seen).

  • The Level 1 CE armour in a jacket at this price point (and no included back protector) is the biggest detractor in my view.

    • +1

      Fair call

    • +1

I've found the usual suspects - Dainese, Alpinestars etc don't include back protectors anymore

      • +1

They are like that for many years now (both alpinestars and Dainese), I had to buy the back protectors separately for them.

  • RST gear much better value imo

    • I like RST. Looking at the Pro Adventure X textile. $600
Getting stock is the next issue. Alot of OOS even now.

      • I’ve found RST’s sizing’s pretty consistent, once you know your fit you can just order off eBay.

If you don’t mind getting a previous seasons’s styles you can get new/old gear crazy cheap.

        • Yeah, I've been hunting round to try on sizes in shops, but where I am, it's DriRider or nothing…and I want something better than DR

          • +1

            @Spending2Much: RST stuff’s great.

I used to ride in all kinds of weather (no car), downpours were pretty common on long rides and it’s a shtty way to get around in those conditions but if you can stay dry it’s a small win.

I used to use RST Paragon and however wet it got (in Victoria it can bucket down) that gear kept me dry.

            Cannot recommend enough.
