$12.90 Philips Tri Colour LED Downlight 7.5W Dimmable

    Same 90mm cutout

    Massive 25% off LED downlights!

    Yeah, nah

    • Do you have any experience with these lights?

I have some cheaper Bunnings ones and they don't like my dimmer switch. They just flicker when dimmed too far. Keen to replace them!

Haven't had these but at least they aren't Elekzon. I'm no sparky but maybe the issue is with your dimmer switch? Try something like this where the minimum brightness can be set?

      • What dimmer have you got? What’s the recommended dimmer according to the model documentation?

        • Might have to dig out the manual to find the model. Had it installed a few years back, and it was paired with downlights. They worked fine until one died, and I couldn't find the exact one.

I wrongly assumed dimmable was a standard thing and just grabbed a new set so they all matched.

  • Is this a deal?

    • +1

Hardly i just replaced all my led downlights for $6.50each

      • Yes, that is why I am asking OP, many cheap options available.

    • +3

No this is 100% not a deal.

If you’re happy with a cheap plastic all-in-one glarey AF downlight there are literally BUCKETLOADS on the market for way cheaper.

      Here’s a good example
Verbatim 10w - via reduction revolution , 5 year warranty $14.90. No questionable discounts.

I would instead recommend SAL Ecogem S9041

$15.90 at best buy lighting , I’m sure you could get better price shopping around with your local lighting supplier if you want cheap.

      Same design
      5 year warranty (residential)
      Higher claimed lumen
      Broadly dimmable

SAL is literally one of the industry giants.

      • Sunny lighting products don't appear to have the greatest reputation either when reading through these - https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/sunny-australia-li…

        • Surprised but not surprised I guess. Eco gems been around for some years now in various formats (1 colour, now colour switch). SAL must be doing something right as most if not all electrical wholesalers I’ve walked into have SAL actively on the shelves. Would be a big revolt by sparkles and wholesalers if there was a very high failure rate or major documented issues.

That being said - other options if you’re after glarey all-in-one downlights include

          Atom
          Domus
          Melec
          Brilliant
          Cla
          Ledvance
          Telbix

          Etc

  • Bunnings have a 5 pack for $58 that come with plug bases.
Probably about the same quality but you can actually claim on the warranty.

Get philips or NLS. Otherwise youll have dead ones in less than 12 months

  • This doesn't appear to be a bargain, cheaper elsewhere as mentioned above.
