      Love me true

      • +4

        All my dreams fulfilled

  • +6

11 Pictures of it on Ebay and not a single one shows the back of it. Lol?

    • +3

That would be a tenda rump. Shy maybe?

    • +2

      I Tenda Agree

Can I plug this into my router to increase wired ports. I'm trying to research this and it is not as straight forward as I would of liked.

    • +8

      yes

    • +2

It is completely straightforward. I have this exact device, there is nothing to configure.
Only minor drawback is the power port is on the opposite side to the Ethernet ports, so it takes up an inch more spaces than it needs to.

      • What happens to the IP address? If your primary router is 192.168.0.1 (for example), does any IP addresses plugged into this become 192.168.1.X? or remain at 0.X?

        • +8

switches like this one in the deal won't affect your IPs. don't worry about it. it'll just 'expand' the number of things you can plug in physically into the network.

          • +4

@slowmo: and in case it's not obvious, in order to 'expand' the number of ports in the router, you would need to connect a cable from 1 port in the LAN side of the router, to any of the ports on this switch. Essentially you have 2 less physical ports to 'plug in'.

eg. router = 4 LAN ports + switch = 8 ports == > only total of 10 ports available for your wired devices.

    • +2

Yes and all the ports on this and all the Lan ports on your router do the same thing.

Thanks for the info gents. Bought one. Thanks OP.

this uses a Power Adapter (9V 1A)…. not a normal kettle plug

i love the Amazon picture where it's next to a TV with just one single cable running from it,
reality couldnt be further from the that ha ha

    • Who doesn't love a large box wall mounted next to their TV with a cable hanging freely between the two…

  • +1

9v plug pack ….would have expected 12v or 5v which seems more common.

    • +5

Couldn't make up their mind so went middle-ish.

    • Love me some 5v. I have this TP Link model. It's great because I can use one of these USB to barrel jack cables to save a wall plug.

Good Deal, i wish it was POE

    • +3

      For $30?

      • Well, my wish would be for it to be even cheaper.

        • tbh, everyone would wish for cheap(er) electronics… but all things being equal, some things will have to give.. and you don't want to be on that end relying on cheap parts for something that can cause a fire with POE.

edit: btw, i don't mean more expensive = better parts. i just meant cheap(er) tends to motivate makers to cut corners.

    • Not for $30.
      Can get a 5 port for $50

(Actually looks like thats POE passthrough only, and the 6 port/4 POE for $54 is only 100Mb.)

  • +1

I need POE for IP phones.
    Any switch recommendations?

    • The TP-Link Omada Jetstream range of POE and POE+ switches are excellent.

    • I went for a second hand Netgear. It's 24 ports and a little over a $100. It has basic managed interface so you can do vlans. Can rack mount it but don't have to. Great for IP cameras too

    • Here's an example. $125. It says 8 port Poe but pretty certain that's a typo. I think it's 16 port Poe and 8 port Poe+

    such a sexy color…

    • Color… Are you looking for the PINK OR BLACK COLOR

  • Thanks OP bought one..

  • No PoE(++). Would have been good to have backup for my old reliable TL-SG1008D (only occasional restarts), but I would like future-proof options to connect cameras or so.

  • Would love a cheap one with around 12.

8 seems to be the most at an affordable price.
