I'm 40 years old and most of my life I was windows and doors manufacturer in factories and also installing on sites. I'm not a top dog but i manage well.
I've been to Perth last 2 years and doing the same job but it doesn't feel fulfilling. I have a minor network engineering degree from my country but I never got to work relevant. But I am very good with computers and technology on an amateur level. I have a very good understanding on how networks work.
I'm planning to grab the basic licenses (cable license and security license) and find job as a CCTV and security installer. Seems far more interesting to me and i believe i will be able to skyrocket and perform well.
Anyone else done something similar? What kind of salary am I looking at as a starter (but with great tool experience)?
Sounds like a good plan.
I’d probably see how you go applying for jobs with no licenses, you might find you get paid to get them.
I don’t know about pay, but for smaller employers, it will be whatever you can negotiate. It seems like a growth industry, with scope to work for yourself in future.
Good luck.
