So about a year ago I managed to get a Amaysim mobile number for my mom that was quite similar to mine. Now she just got back from overseas, 4 months after the plan she was on expired. Amaysim customer care say that they cant give her the same number again and I would very much like to keep the same number. Is it possible to port to Boost? or will the port fail?
Can I Port an Expired Number?

If Amaysim says it's too late then make a formal complaint to Amaysim (vai email or via a web page that you need to find).
Thanks. Will try that out
If the service still exists in your account and receives SMS without issue, you can port It out.
Nope.. no incoming SMS or calls going to the number.
If not many key services have been registered to it or easy to change to a new one, just forget about it.
Did the plan expire or did the service/number?
Usually the plans will expire but the numbers will last for months afterwards.
As Neoika says, if you can receive texts it’s still active.
The number may have been allocated to someone else already. This was certainly the case recently when I tried to renew an expired number.
Wow imagine getting someone else's number, what a nightmare!!!
Speaking from experience:
If you're lucky, then the person was law-abiding and you'll only get the occasional rare call from an old friend of the person.
If you're unlucky, then the person is on the run from multiple debt collectors, and they will drive you crazy with constant calls & texts.
Seeing as calls and SMSes isn't going through. I don't think the number has been allocated yet
Chances are Little to none.
With some service you like woolworths mobile, you can get your number back by recharging, but you cannot port them after 60/90 days i think because it doesnt receive sms/calls. But they allow little more time for you to recharge and bring your number back to life.
Amaysim allows 12 months without recharge. Sometimes a few months extension via email activation. In other words, it is OP's fault / carelessness.
Lol. It's been less than 5 months since the last recharge. And I dont think it's worth recharging for months when the service won't be used. I would like to keep the number but if I was given the choice again knowing that the number would expire so soon, I would still choose not to recharge.
And I dont think it's worth recharging for months when the service won't be used.
Aldimobile is really good for this. They have a $15 Pay-as-you-go plan with 365 day expiry, so just pay $15 once & your number remains active for 1 year.
@vikvance: Oh! Wasn't aware of that. Thanks for sharing. Maybe will port to Aldi and do a single recharge before she goes on a long overseas break
@0FoxGiven: Amaysim also has a 365 day one. https://www.amaysim.com.au/plans/mobile-plans/as-you-go/ I've been paying $10 a year to keep a really good number for when my kid is old enough to have a mobile.
@kawinuyo: I’ve done this in the past too. $10 a year is a small price to pay to keep a number you really like in my opinion.
@kawinuyo: @kawinuyo Can Amaysim number be renewed every year for $10?
@emperor: Yes, I've been doing it for 3 years now. It doesn't like add on the end so for example if you renew on the 4th of November 2022, and then next year you renew on the 1st of November 2023 to not forget, the year expiry will be 1st Nov 2024, so you are shorted "3 days"
You’ll need the number to be active.. depending on which carrier the number originally belonged to, it will go into quarantine for 6 months before it can be re issued
Amaysim should be able to take the number of quarantine and get the service active again.
