Lenovo Legion 5i or Legion 5i Pro?

I want to buy a laptop for my wife which she'll mainly use for AutoCAD and Revit. She doesn't game and I prefer Lenovo due to their on site service.

I am a bit confused between Legion 5i (2022) and Legion 5i Pro (2022) who share almost the same specs… i7 12700H, RTX 3070 (L5i model) and RTX 3070 Ti (L5i pro model), 32GB RAM, 1TB). The L5i costs $2700 and L5i Pro costs $2900.

She's leaning more towards the 5i because it's a slimmer laptop. I am a bit concerned about its thermal - given that it's a thinner body, has 300 nits screen opposed to the 500 nits on the pro model and that it might not be as sturdy as the pro.

I am not a gamer or a laptop expert so any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

      • Yeah, I think the bit better GPU and all the little nice features are worth the price difference for the pro

  • +2

for only $200 difference i think it's worth getting the Pro because you get a much better display, 3070Ti and a few small but nice to have upgrades (i.e. RGB lights, nicer material, etc)

I looked at this a few years ago and I think the main difference between pro and non-pro is still the same.
Legion 5i: uses intel CPU (as opposed to AMD). Has 15" display.
Legion 5i Pro: uses intel CPU but has 16" display.
