Dam, loaded up 2k a few weeks ago :(

Stocked up with Shopback this month - in Lattitude CC Deals. Were much better cashback of around 14%

      • whats lattitude? sorry for stupid question

        • +5

          That's how we learn😉
Financial company with credit cards like 28Degree Master Card - popular here.

Deals were for those with a Latitude CC used to buy any $50, $250, $350, $1000 gift cards. Advance notice was given the month before, so people could apply for card - the reason for the promo.

eg $10 Bonus Cashback on $50 Gift Cards with 28 Degrees or Gem Visa Credit Card @ ShopBack App

Bought Swap Cards to swap to gift cards to use at Coles or other stores.

          $50 purchase = $10 bonus + $1 (2%) = 22% quick cashback (already in bank)!

      • Did you have a search alert set up for this?

        • +1

Yes - so this Deal popped up.
Usually only buy @9% or better off.
Stocked up for about 2 months of groceries @14-22% off.

  • Any issues with these I should be aware of?
Assume I can just use these instore at Coles for my regular shop?

    • Yep! Just redeem in store!

    • Yes. you can choose mixed payments and select gift cards.

    • +10

Personally i add these to Stocard app for easy access. Much easier than trying to scan the email.

      • Yes, tried this method and it works ok

        • +14

I use Google Wallet. Works well too.

Still can't understand in this day and age why Coles don't have their own app for this. Oh and allow online redemption.

          • @gadgetguy: So true…

            • @Brakus: What about stored on Prezzee?

              • @capslock janitor: Nope, no option to add them, seems can only store cards bought via Prezzee (including from Shopback), which is a shame because it's quick and easy to check balances on Prezzee.

          • +1

@gadgetguy: because then it becomes their problem if it doesn't work well?

          • @gadgetguy: Thanks. Had no idea it could be added to Google wallet

      • Can you store multiple in Stocard or only one at a time?

        • +4

Can store multiple. Then I update the balance on the card title so I know how much to put in the payment system

        • +2

yes, but totals don't update automatically like the Woollies one does

          • +1

@shmahoo: Its simple. It has " notes" section. You add the pin number there and the balance. As you spend you change the number. ( The Coles receipt will show balance remaining on the giftcard )

    • +1

Extremely difficult scanning giftcards usaiang the scanner. Wasted so much time doing it everytime. Coles needs to learn from Woolies and improve their scanner for better customer experience.

      • Pro tip - Wipe the scanner glass surface before scanning…makes a HUGE difference.

  • So sad cannot use prepaid master/visacard :(

    • Is this not THE e gift card?

      • I think using it to buy this deal.

    • +1

worked for me, but can only do $100 since they add the 10c fee for sms making the $250 be $250.10

      • +4

you don't need sms .. just email .. it will send pdf to you .. .save 10 cents .. remember … we are tight … hence OZB!

        • +5

either way cant do the full 250 as there is $1 pending for verification when you add the card for payment

        • They do charge small charge for linking the card though. Which will reduce the balance below $250

          • @bargain-lover007: I didn't get charge $1 or small charge .. only 1 $250 .. no sms .. and received the pdf and cashback is tracked and confirmed
Also purchased Woolies one … not great offer, $300 and get 2000 points. time to do shopping

            • @rjams23: Weird. I tried with one $250 card and the system asked me to link it. Was charged a refundable $1 charge to my card because of which I can not use it to buy a similar amount card.

              • @bargain-lover007: i have the same old card stored in cashreward .. hence no need verification. however it's refundable anyway …

                • @rjams23: I understand your confusion. People are trying to use cards from this deal It is different from existing linked cards that you may already have in the cashrewards account.

                  • @bargain-lover007: Thanks … missed that promo. went to few different coles to get … none left .. either sold out or staff been hiding them in freezer section …

      • +1

Can't use the $100 card to purchase as there's a $1 pending for verification :(

    • Just worked for me. I added a $250 prepaid Coles Mastercard Gift Card as payment and was able to pay successfully with this.

  • +6

The only store that won't take gift cards online or on their app

    • +2

      Kmart has entered the chat

  • Is this 6% cashback long term or for a limited time only?

    • While Stocks last

      • +5

        So for about an hour.😝

        • still available
          .

  • -5

    Boo cashrewards

  • Seems like max is $250 in 1 transaction. How do I get $500? Is multiple purchase allowed?

    • +4

yeah. u can buy $250 tiwce.

  • +4

I would normally go for this but there have been so many Amex cashback offers at Myer, Vintage Cellars, First Choice Liquor, etc. recently that I already have over 4k in Coles Group cards to work through.

    • 4k??
I feel bad having $500 Woolies somewhere in email

    • How do you get Coles Myer GC at Vintage Cellars? The one near me don't stock this card.

      • The ones I went to do - Crows Nest, Chatswood, Neutral Bay, Wynyard - all in Sydney.

    • Which first choice you go stock gift cards

      • Naremburn

        • Thanks. My local doesn’t stock them

  • Thanks Op, grabbed one and cashback tracked next minute.

  • +1

What's the best place to store Coles GCs? They don't have an app like Woolies do that shows the current balance do they?

Buying for parents so trying to make it simple for them

    • +1

This one can be added to Apple Wallet

    • you can use STOCARD … or Google Wallet .. just type the card number … Google wallet has dropdown for retailer voucher type

      • Does it show current balance tho

        • -1

          Yes, mine does 😉

    • +4

Apple Wallet lets you store them - but only 1 Coles egift card at a time

      • What do you mean? So you can use it like Apple Pay?

        • +1

If it uses a barcode, then not quite like Apple Pay where it uses NFC to "tap and pay" — you fire up Apple Wallet, select the Coles gift card, then scan the barcode.

          Happy to be corrected.

          • @Member 0230: yes .. select giftcard for payment … scan barcode .. enter pin …
coles system is laggy on pulling the gift card payment

            • @rjams23: The new machines are much faster. Just try to find the newest looking barcode scanners in Self service checkout. I used to wait minutes, now it takes seconds..

          • @Member 0230: When I try add to Apple Wallet these are the options:
            -Debit or Credit Card
            -Travel Pass

How do I add the Coles GC?

            • +1

@Moo Deng: Press the "Redeem Gift" button in the email Cashrewards sent you, then there will be a black "Add to Apple Wallet" button to press.

  • What's the expiry on these?

    • +2

      3 Years

      • I was under the impression that gift cards don’t (shouldn’t) expire any longer?

        • +1

Minimum by law is 3 years but some cards have no expiry. Depends on the retailer.

  • +5

True Rewards does not allow purchases or payments made with prepaid Visa or MasterCard gift cards.

This is false, I just successfully bought a $100 card with one ($250 card from the recent Coles deal). Couldn't buy $250 because of the $1 temporary charge.

  • +1

I assume buying gift cards is an eligible purchase for getting bonus sign on points with credit cards such as ANZ, Virgin etc as there are quite a few exceptions such as council rates, fares on public transport, tolls, ATO etc.

    • +2

      Yes.

  • To get $500 requires multiple purchases? I can only get $250 at a time.

    • +1

Yes, buy in 2 transactions to reach the limit

  • thanks, got this

  • +1

can someone please confirm you can still use Coles gift cards to buy other gift cards in store?

    • -1

      No you can't

    • +2

I have many times as recently as last Sunday, but it depends on the store/staff member.

      • what gift cards did you buy?

My understanding is that it works but you can't use coles gift cards to buy Coles group gift cards.

        • +2

I used the red eColes GC (the same as in this deal) and Coles Myer Group GC's to purchase the Coles Mastercard from the deal that just ended. If using an assisted checkout must have the full amount on the GC or at manned checkout could use 2/3 at a time.

          • @Yola: have you tried other gift cards too?

also with the full amount at self assisted, did you press pay with gift card and scan barcode + enter pin?

hmmm don't employees get sus when you pay with gift card at manned checkouts?

            • +1

@Poor Ass: Depend on the store you go, some staff dont care, some treat you as a thief.

              • @couger: I think some of the self checkout auto rejects too

              • @couger: I think some do not know.

            • +1

              @Poor Ass:

also with the full amount self-assisted, did you press pay with a gift card and scan the barcode + enter the pin?

Yes exactly for the Coles eGC but the physical Coles Myer Group pressed card.

don't employees get sus when they pay with a gift card at manned checkouts?

With the physical Coles Myer Group GC, they look like CCs so easier. If they seem to be watching, I put a CC on top of it when I hold it. They cannot see then. Also, many either do not know or do not care about this but others, especially older ladies seem to take it as a personal affront if you break the rules. I had a great run on the weekend when there were only casuals around.

              • @Yola: ok if you were to pull one off would you prefer manned or assisted?

                • +1

@Poor Ass: I always use assisted unless I have to split or I want to buy more than 5.

              • @Yola: oh the CC on top trick… do you actually stack 2 cards when you swipe but only the magnet of the GC swipes?

                • +1

@Poor Ass: I don't think you can swipe both I just mean to cover the GC. But many of the casuals would not even realise that the Coles Myer Group GC are not a cc. They are mostly young people that do not have cc yet. I know because I have children that age. IMO for the assisted checkout, it's best to go when they are busy but for the manned, if you want to split you do not want them to be too busy as they may not want to do it. I think also your age is a factor if you are an older lady with grey hair like me, I can tell the young operators may be reluctant but do not want to say no to me.

              • +1

                @Yola:

especially older ladies seem to take it as a personal affront if you break the rules

                Can 120% second this lol.
