Not entirely sure what these are like, but I wanted to delve into the bone conduction earphone world so I can listen to some tunes while on my pushy. These aren't actually bone conduction, but rather 'air conduction'. Watched and read some reviews and the general gist of things is that these are great value.

Thought I'd give them a go because I'm a tight arse and didn't want to drop more money on some Shokz haha.

keen to hear how they compare to shokz,

got a pair recently and it's great for on the bike or when I need to be aware at home

These aren't actually bone conduction, but rather 'air conduction'

Sounds like they're nothing compared to Aftershokz.

'Air conduction' sounds to me like a normal over-ear headphone, just without the cups…

      • I'd say you're spot on haha, but at less than half the price, it's a punt I'm willing to take. :)

    • Well I ordered the Truefree F1 from this deal and they just arrived a few minutes ago.
I plan to give them to my son for Christmas as he keeps borrowing my Openrun Pro Shokz.
Anyhow the comparison is quite good, the sound is excellent, but neither pair compare well to over ear headphones.
But if you require headphones that allow you to hear your surroundings they are very good.
Once on your ears they feel comfortable, but fitting them to your ears is a little more complex as the ear hook is a little smaller and rounded,
so getting your ear lobes in is a little harder. But as I compare them both I notice that the Truefree F1 don't vibrate at full volume, where the Openrun Pro do.
The maximum volume on ear is about the same but when you sit them down on the table the Truefree F1 are louder so I assume that other people would be able to hear your Truefree F1 easier, noise leakage i think it's called. But I am very very impressed with these headphones. I mainly use my Openrun Pro Skokz while gardening at home or riding my bike or at work building/maintenance, so being able to hear the outside world is important.
I really like that its a USB-C port instead of the proprietary cable for the Openrun Pro as it uses the same cable as my phone.
Anyhow I'm thinking of buying yet another pair to leave at my work as $49 for these is pretty good price.

Bone conduction is awesome. I could hear my headphones from my car boot because the sound travelled through the car floors into my front seat

    • +3

I could hear from my basement as the sound travelled through the multiple slabs, reinforced metal beams and concrete walls eventually reaching the bed head in my room on the third storey on my triple level mansion

Wow… I had no idea that you could conduct your bone from that far away

  • It’s not for free, that is true!

  • I was looking at these today. Still undecided if I want to try.

looking through the reviews and found this part of one that described the experience with them and how they work.
So, definitely like the bone-conduction ones it seems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Not what I expected! BETTER than expected.

Now these headphones really did amaze me. I have recently started jogging due to the weather change and wanted to give some over ear sports earphones a shot. Now these are very unique earphones as they do not actually go into your ear. There is a selection of small speakers that sit on the earphones and project audio into your ear canal. The outcome was fantastic. Not only the clarity of the music but also the fact that you can hear your surroundings well (yet not disrupting the music) which makes these fantastic for running and gym when you need to be cautious of hazards and your surroundings.
The earphones are extremely light and are almost unnoticable. They sit snug and do not bounce when you run or cause any discomfort. Build quality is nice and simple and perfect for what it is intended.

Having physical buttons is nice to see as many times in the past, I have had multiple issues with touch controls.

I have worn these earphones for roughly 8 hours overall and still have battery remaining.

Audio quality is very strong and clear at all volumes. Bass is a lot lighter than other in-ear earbuds as can be expected for open ear audio.

I have worn them in the house and have played with the volume and my partner has said that up until roughly 60% volume level, she was unable to hear anything from the earphones.

I have spoken to friends on the phone whilst driving with these on and all have said that the microphone clarity was strong and the car engine couldn't be heard.

Bluetooth is strong and I have ranged over 10 metres away from my phone before the headphones started to disconnect.
Great for movies as well as Bluetooth 5.3 prevents audio lag very well.

Overall I am amazed with these and recommend them to anyone who is a runner or a gym goer or for everyday in general if you like to be able to hear your surroundings.

    Very happy customer.

"There is a selection of small speakers that sit on the earphones and project audio into your ear canal."

That's not how bone conduction works is it?

I thought Bone conduction headphones have a hard part which presses against the skin in front of your ear, and "conducts" the sound into your ear bones with vibration. No small speakers are used to project audio like a normal earphone/headphone.

I think this picture from a video shows the difference. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xhvZQh1wZAY/maxresdefault.jpg

I bought this and got it delivered the same day. It’s crazy fast shopping with Amazon prime

This is a hybrid of bone conduction and traditional earbuds. It’s like a pair of small speakers next to (not inside) the ears.

This one is BT5.3. Good connectivity pairing to two devices at the same time. I am connecting to my phone for podcast + my Mac for zoom calls.

It has the same pros as a bone conduction: light, hygiene, exposed to environment sound. And it has better sound quality (only better than bone conduction, more like a cheap pair of earbuds) and larger volume.

I also like the physical button. Touch controls on a earbuds is just annoying as hell.

But I don’t think this is water proof as most bone conductions.

It does leak a bit a sound but still usable in a office.

Overall a good product that meet my need. And IMO it works better than bone conduction for me. YMMV

    • Did urs come flat or charged. Busy charging mine

It’s charged. Been playing for 2 hours

So do these actually do bone conduction?
or are they just cheap speakers stuffed into pretend bone conducting setup? (as I have seen other bad / pretend versions).
