iPhone 13 Mini 512GB (Various Colours) $1,329 + $9.90 Shipping ($0 SYD C&C) @ PCByte

120

This is the cheapest price I've ever seen for the iPhone 13 Mini 512 GB. Available in Midnight, Starlight, Pink, Red, Blue. Not available in Green.

Shipping is $9.90, or you can pick it up for free from Auburn NSW.

JB Hifi and Apple currently has it for $1,569.

I was able to Price Match at JB HiFi. (I had JB HiFi gift vouchers to use up). The first staff member (via webchat) said that Price Match wasn't possible, as the product was considered to be "limited quantities", which he determined because it was sold out at some physical stores. The second staff member (via phone call to JB HiFi's online team) gladly price matched, however added on 2 lots of shipping: the $9.90 PC BYTE shipping plus $10 JB Hi Fi shipping.

Am I missing something. Why are iPhones so massively overpriced?

    • +2

They're generally high end spec phones when they are released, so if you compare them to high end androids the price is in the same ballpark. They also tend to get 5-6 years of software update support while androids usually get around half that or even less, so you can use it longer. It may not make sense for every individual to look at those factors and that's fine

so if you compare them to high end androids the price is in the same ballpark.

Except the 6 month-old S22 with 5 years software support was available for $588

Well it's through Optus so gotta factor in the cost of replacing your drivers license :) But yeah solid deal

Agreed similar or better specced none apple phones are way better priced.

Can only assume they maximise on people liking familiarity and not wanting to risk change.

That deal has expired and only 128gb

Well this particular version is a mini. A unique size phone not offered by any realistic competitor. So people that want one, want one. A small market, but a market none the less.
The downside is the purchaser has to settle for the second fastest SOC currently available in a phone.

Personally I would look for one with less storage and thus cheaper.

      • I don't think this difference is that noticeable after a little while. I think people come to appreciate the extra screen real estate.

      • That is me! Don't care about screen size - want a small but powerful phone. Weight and size is important for me as it is a mobile device. The 13mini is the only on the market!

    • like most companies/brands, once their established they slowly start charging more, testing the market. In apples case, people keep paying, so they keep increasing the price

I was able to get iPhone 13 pro for $1k on their 12 mo plan a couple of wks ago :)

    • +3

      But you're on a 12month plan…. And you paid $1k

      • -2

Let me know of any plan that you could've gotten an iPhone 13 pro with any less $?

  • I believe it will be reducing more with time flying. Mini version is not that popular even I’m a fan of small phone. Will keep eyes on it myself.

  • Harvey Norman just had it on sale for $999 - 512GB
