Help Finding a Robot Vacuum to Clean a Sports Hall

G'day!

I assist in the management of a sports centre (1400 square metres), and would appreciate some advice on a solution for cleaning.

We have an issue where a portion of the courts (underneath the table) isn't being cleaned resulting in dust build up. This results in approximately 100 square metres of space to clean in total. This has led me to suggest a robot vacuum cleaner, slightly moving the barriers to the court before each cleaning session to allow the vacuum to navigate in.

Picture of the sports hall for reference.

Realistically - would it be feasible to get a domestic cleaner (with LIDAR and self-emptying) to map out a facility of this large size, and then use the app to request it to only vacuum underneath the tables? Or is navigating a space of this size just out of the question for a domestic cleaner?

Lastly - the WiFi range doesn't quite stretch the whole distance, but that could likely be rectified with an extender. What is the experience of those using a robo-vac in spaces with patchy WiFi; does it freak out and not do the job, or is it able to continue the task with its inbuilt smarts and map?

Thanks very much in advance for your thoughts!

hi. owner of a roborock s5 here

it can go charge if it runs out of juice half way and then continue after.

wifi is not necessary once vacuuming. only when setting it up

s5 only lets me set up 5 zones to vacuum and it's fiddly. so just vacuum it all

as its a hard floor you don't need max suction power

roborock q7 max says it's good for 300sqm so it'll need a few recharges to finish.

id say you buy one with the auto empty dock and see how you go. I feel you may need two to cover that area and have them finish within a reasonable time. maybe even add the mopping attachment

  • Also depends on how long you have the hall empty for as well. It has around 2 hours battery life on low power and takes a bit longer than that to fully charge the robot. So you have to take that into consideration as well.

  • If you could find a robot vac that fits under the barriers or create a clear path for it I'd suggest getting it to vacuum the entire sports hall as it would be easier than trying to only getting it to do spots you choose.
You'd probably want to find something with a large battery and auto empty so that it could fill up the bin, drop it off and then keep going

    • Its not too bad, I have a Viomi one and when it first runs through your house it creates a map. After that you just draw on the map the areas you want it to vacuum. You can even set up rooms so you can tell it in the future to go clean X room.

Is it going to set off the hall security?
