have they fixed the 0xf4 bsod issue so u dont have to flash them anymore?

    • +4

OMG is this why I have been getting these bsods? >.<
I got this HD a while back & it's fast & great. This is a good deal. But there IS a known issue with them of random blue screens of death with error code 0xf4.
I'm gonna look into flashing the firmware of it now. fml. Soo much lost work over the year.

      • +1

yeah, they have the flash files and guides on their site, or just look up sandforce 0xf4 bsod

    • +1

have they actually fixed it? as in NO MORE bsods after the flash?

      • +3

since i flashed mine, i think longest uptime was about a month till updates forced a restart

    • +2

I have an OCZ Agility 3 120GB SSD and have never had a BSOD thankfully. Unless there are different versions of this particular drive, I have the same one as you guys. Hope it never happens to me!

The code is "ssd30off" not "ssd30ff" as it is here (doesn't work otherwise), also comes up with $9 shipping (might want to put in title).

If you use the printed coupon barcode you can pickup…..

    • +2

      or "bsod30on" ?

      • +1

Umart has this for $109(web price/pickup), if your not in VIC…

  • +1

If your going for the shipping option, your probably better off buying straight from UMART it's the same price 109.

  • can someone please upload the coupon, would like to pick this up on teh way home from work

  • Got my Octane SATA 2.0 on Tuesday when these guy had that on sale last week. Fast shipping and working perfectly in my Macbook Pro with no dramas.

Ditto - got it yesterday and it has sexed up the old Dell Latitude D630 that I use as a rugged-portable. (The D630 can't 'do' SATAIII: we put a Patriot Pyro SATAIII in our ASUS K52N, and that thing now rocks, DJ - and it's making me feel alright).

Ubuntu launches (passwordless) in 12 seconds on the D630 now; the ASUS launches Win7 in 18sec (both dual-core, i.e., 64bit). 'R' scripts that used to take 30sec to run, now take 3 (it's no shock to me that R is slower on a Win7 64-bit machine with 8Gb RAM and SATAIII, than on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit with 4Gb RAM and SATAII… Microsludge's memory-wasting bloatware eats resources).

      • +1

Macbook pro does it in under 10 seconds without password login! Very satisfied with this hard drive.. Don't know why people are complaining about it, maybe it screws up using it on Windows.

        • +2

It's not a Windows specific problem, it's in the drive firmware itself. You need to upgrade the firmware (or hope the one you got has the latest) or you will more than likely encounter some issues as the original/old firmwares have serious bugs in them.

        • Already did that as soon as I got it and it came with the latest firmware. Thanks for the tip!

  • Out of stock apparently in Nunawading :( Website says in stock, phone call to them says out of stock…

    • You don't want to buy from Nunawading anyway, shocking after sales service, they are very keen on charging restocking fee for returning faulty parts. Other centrecoms are OK.

      • +1

I had similar experience with the Nunawading store a couple of months ago. Will never shop there EVER.

Out of stock apparently in Nunawading…

There's your problem right there. You should have tried Someawading or Lotsawading! :p

BS artists at Nunawading just offloaded the Octane onto my partner saying that the Agility is not the one available at the $99 price!? WTF!? Taking it back now! GRR

UPON RETURN - The employees feigned to know nothing of this special sale whereby I asked them to ring HO. Upon ringing HO and realising it was the Agility on sale that they could/would order one in for me. I was told it might be in by Tuesday or not at all. They proceeded to write on my receipt that I was exchanging the product, however, when I attempted to take the Octane drive with me to exchange when the other one came in the employee said to me why take that one when I didn't want it. I replied that I was paying for a drive that might not even come in and my only assurance is a hand written note on my receipt. I promptly asked for a refund. $9 postage seems like the best option if Nunawading is your local!

On a SATA 2 board, will this be any better than last week's Octane SSD? Worth paying the extra $10?

    • +2

No you're wasting your money, but it could be useful when you salvage it for future purposes.

      • +2

Cheers. By the time I get a SATA 3 board SSDs would've reduced in price too I suppose.

MTBF of 231 years, and they only offer 3 years warranty?!
