I just like building so buy the clones off AliExpress- 2807 piece model is about $175 for example.
0 resale value though
impressive
wow that thing looks terrible. to each their own though
Supporting companies that rip off the IPs that other companies built huh?
Share a photo, I'm curious, the ones at $175 are just using LEGO promo shots and the cheaper ones at $70-90 look like garbage.
I've got a huge collection of Aliexpress clones (purchased at a third of the price) which I've compared to the displayed ones at the lego store and they look almost identical. I have it sitting next to some genuine ones too that no average person can tell the difference. I agree that the tolerances may be marginally off so there's some minimal difference in the building experience. But for the price difference I personally don't care. Each to their own I guess.
And funnily enough, I just finished the the daily bugle with hundreds of windows and the clear pieces were in better condition that some clear pieces I've got from genuine lego builds.
If it's anything like the tolerances on the bunnings/woolworths bricks, I'd rather kill myself. Thanks for the info.
@eagerfisherman: lol well that escalated. I have no idea about woolies bricks but I've made several pieces now without any thought of killing myself… if that helps.
I'm with you. Build experience and final product very similar for a third of the price. Vast majority couldn't care less about resale value. Even those who say they care, most won't ever sell anyway.

WUT?!
Absolutely!!!
Why don't they make a Cat Mario version of the same size?
Too expensive.
Recently built this from the Toys R Us deal.
Was really fun.
Looks better in person and a great display piece
When they're like $400+, are they really still toys? I'm assuming it's mostly adults building this, not spoilt rich 7yr olds with $400 pocket money.
FYR
As indicated on the package, this set is for 18+.
Costco is now $299.99
