  I don't like hard cases. It just me.
  Quality wise they are Samsonite, hopefully good as any other brand.

  I don't have any recommendations apart from the following:
  - Depending where you are going, research if they are cheaper at your destination. Take your old bags there and replace with the new. You could also upsize to allow space for all your souvenirs.

    Yes this is a good tip, especially if you are a frequent traveller.
    Often suitcases will come with a 2+ year warranty, so be aware that if you purchase overseas, it is likely that you need to be in said country to make a claim if you have issues with it. (Having said that, who actually claims on these types of warranties).

  Friend recently bought this and likes it for durability.

  Though they complain that you have to fill both sides quite well or else everything inside moves around. That’s in comparison to a soft cover suitcase that has a zipper to expand it. I would always prefer the latter.

  Hardcase luggage is good unless weight is an issue. You want to target low 3.xx kg for large and about 2 kg for carry on (this is easily achieved with softcase in this budget but hardcase gets expensive). Other point to note is that hard shell will get scratched very easily.

    Completely agree on the scratching part…which is actually one of the reasons I’ve been holding back…interestingly when I compare weights …this set appears to be at par with softshell ones at samsonite

      Scratches and scuffs are much less noticeable on dark hard shell suitcases

  Update -

  I bought TOSCA luggage set instead. Its lighter than samsonite and cheaper.

  Got the black one for $229.99 in store. Comes with packing cubes and neck pillow.
