Wish the gu10 had more than 500lm

  • Anyone know how long this sale is for?

    • +2

I suspect they may be trying to clear some non-selling stock, The GU10s & E14 I grabbed instore were heavily dusty on their boxes and could tell they haven't been touched in awhile.

Its just a weekly catalogue sale isn't it, back to normal price on Wed

  • Pity the 9w are not on special. Got two that seem to no longer connect to wifi and may need replacing. Tried re-pairing but it disappears as offline again soon after and now even turning on and off doesn't make it reconnect to wifi automatically, so maybe it was dying.

I'd wait for them to be cheaper. Woolworths had the regular Mirabella Genio Wi-Fi Dimmable Lightbulbs for $4.50 for ages before they sold out.

I wish these dimmed down lower… 1% is still pretty bright. Currently use them for kids night lights.

The percentages definitely aren't accurate, you're right. 100% isn't twice as bright as 50% eg etc.

  • Would be nice with a deal on their wifi led strip.

I have the gu10s. And WiFi connection is very inconsistent on these. Mine use 2.4ghz which doesn't play nice with my google mesh.

If you're using the Mirabella app stop using it and use the Tuya app… For me it's been so much better.

    • I had problem with these and my old router, the more bulbs I connected, the worse it got.

In the end I got a new Wifi 6e box to act as an access point, and since then they have been rock solid. Seems to be an issue with the router keeping connection with multiple devices at once, they aren't really tested with more than 4-5 devices at one time.

  • I've had a bit of trouble with Mirabella ones losing connection and flashing obnoxiously. Maybe it's just my crap internet though.

    • +2

      Nah, had the same.

Also hate there's no option for them to always return to a bright, white state when using the switch, so if you're dimming them or changing colour you need to go to the app to change them back manually.

Annoying when you've had them at 1% then need to go and find your phone to turn the lights on properly.

  • Why don’t 99.9% of smart lights on Ozbargain work with ‘Hey Siri’? Don’t manufacturers think that they will sell more lights with full Apple compatibility?

In general apple try and extract a pound of royalty flesh for the pleasure of working with their ecosystem, and most device suppliers don't want to play that game, particularly when apple is way behind the big two.

That might change with Matter, which requires royalty-free, but at present I can't think of anyone that takes Siri seriously.

      • I think most can afford to pay $2 more in royalty fees on a $15 smart bulb. So frustrating.

        • +2

The only ones I can think have are Lifx; and look how well they are doing. Oh, and the implications of a sizeably royalty on the manufacturers BoM cost is pretty significant, particularly when apple's position in the Smart Home market is a distant third (or is it fourth next to the the Tuya ecology?).

Apple trying to extract money has hurt them before, nearly as much as trying to maintain an iron grip of control over third parties.

  • These suckers are killing my 2.4Ghz wifi network, they drag down the speed to almost nothing. Changing over to zigbee bulbs.
