    Re-posting from a previous "deal":

Just a heads up, this company is dodgy AF.

The past few years, they've had no warnings/prompts whatsoever when re-scheduling your bookings. They are buried in the T&Cs, which technically you agreed to on signing up.

They will charge you full original price of your original booking, without warning.

Which is a fair policy if you're re-scheduling like within 24 hr of your original booking, but this needs to be clearly communicated. Instead, it baits users into believing it's free. I've complained about this multiple times, they have never gotten it fixed. They just throw the T&C at you, so I'm pretty sure this is an intentional predatory practice.

Also, they are not regulated by the Omsbudsman overseeing transport (taxis, ubers, vehicle rentals). They're just out there doing whatever TF they want.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm sure someone more versed/or used them can expand on this thread too

I would say that this information is buried. A quick google search reveals the answer:

      https://support.carnextdoor.com.au/hc/en-gb/articles/1150057…

Within 1 hour of making the booking No cancellation fee
Over 48 hours in advance* No cancellation fee
24 to 48 hours in advance* 50% of time booked, up to 4 hours
Less than 24 hours in advance* 100% of time booked, up to 12 hours

*of the trip start time, or the earliest part of the trip affected by the change

    • Just signed up with this deal, my trip is pending but above the change trip button on the iOS app it says cancellation policy applies with a hyperlink to the policy.

Used them before for moving and was not disappointed

Same here. I have used them about 4 times now, mostly to use a ute or van for moving. Always worked seamlessly and was way better value for money than standard rental services (Budget, Hertz, etc.).

  • Just got a rental for a trip down in Melbourne and it worked out well . Quicker than.using hertz et al

…from the 8th of November, Car Next Door is rebranding to UBER CARSHARE.

    • Yeah that’s the sad thing. Uber are evil.

FYI a credit check which will appear on your record is required when signing up

I don't think it was the case when I signed up few years ago..

I always used CND for renting vans for moving, never had an issue

  • What if completing a rental on the 2nd Nov? Will that count?

  • I used car next door 3x renting car on weekends, all good, no problem at all

    Just received 75 voucher, thanks!

    • Nice one, how long is the expiry? Yet to receive mine and just checking if it is worth pursuing if it doesn’t arrive tomorrow.

      • +1

Valid for a year! I rented a car 1st to 2nd Nov, and got it on the 8th.

        • Cheers, voucher didn’t arrive so will chase it up. I assume it’s not single use?
