iMac for Upgrade Which One?

I am a coder who usually needs to use XCode, android studio and visual studio.

I am using an SSD upgraded version of MacBook pro-2015.

The system is running fine but sometimes a little bit slow, especially with the android.

I want to upgrade to the MacBook pro m1 16 inches, but as it is not urgent, I feel like waiting for the m2 pro. It seems like it will be released only next year.

So, I am planning to get a used or refurbished iMac 21 or 24, maybe 2019-2021 (as I already have a 38” screen and do not want to go for 27” 5k).
I plan to upgrade it to at least 32GB RAM and 1Tb hard disk, so I need something which can be upgraded. But I found that the iMac model cannot be upgraded at all.

So, I need the best and, if possible newer version of iMac, which can be upgraded.
My budget is up to 1200 for a used one.

What should be my best option? I am open to anything but want an apple retina display, so I don’t want to go for mac studio etc.
What should I do?

For now, I am planning to go for iMac 21.5 2019, 2020 or 2021 (as I cannot upgrade m1 version)

    I'd wait for a M2 Mac mini or M2 Pro Mac mini

    This was a very confusing read full of odd contradictions.

    If you want an M2 Macbook then wait that out instead of buying an iMac stopgap. Shouldn't be too much longer.

      m2 pro is not coming before 6 months I guess and I need something now as I feel i need an upgrade that is why want something now. I can adjust imac later in my office.
