Everywhere it says no lock in contracts for auto-delivery and it's cheaper to use this option, do you check this option everytime and cancel or is there repercussion to doing so?
Question on Auto-Delivery, What's to Stop Me from Cancelling after Getting The Price?
Comments
No issue for occasional use, you may get account blocked if abuse it.
I do it all the time on Amazon. When you cancel and they ask for a reason for cancellation, one of the options is "wanted initial discount".
The cancel reason is optional, I think
Yes, but goes to show that Amazon expect people to cancel after the initial discount. Nothing wrong with it.
Are you referring to the Amazon subscribe and save discount? I never bothered with it since I wondered Is it worth the risk of forgetting to cancel for the <$1 discount?
@xdigger: Yep, subscribe and save. Personally I've never forgotten to cancel. You can cancel the subscription straight after purchasing and you'll still get the item. Cancelling the order is different.
Amazon also send you an email a week or so before the next delivery date, so plenty time to cancel if needed.
@xdigger: I always set the recurrance to 6 months also, that helps a lot.
But if too many people say they do it, they may not offer it anymore.
I thought that was a trap. I never choose that option just in case they revoke the discount in future orders
As long as enough people forget to cancel when they don't want it any more, they still profit even if some take the discount then cancel immediately
Probably why in US they ask you to pay for full price first then discount in future delivery
thanks for the reply all, I guess it's ok to do it then since I shop around different places each time anyways.
I usually don't do auto renew but I placed an order on PetCircle recently. They price matched and also put me on auto renewal to give me further discount.
After the order got delivered, I cancelled auto renew.
No issues thus far
Nothing, and that's okay.
