Queensland Driving Licence Number Change Due to Optus Hack

Hi all just wondering if anyone was able to get their driving licence number changed with the TMR due to the recent Optus privacy breach/hack?

I went to the TMR office and bloke took my details asked me to show a copy of the Optus breach email and viewed my exiting DL and then told me that the new DL will be posted in few days. I am bit confused does that mean I will get a new licence number or will they only change the card number? Have anyone who changed their DL due to your Optus hack have received their new DL.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Me and my partner went to visit local TMR on the first day when they allowed this licence number change. There were a lot of confusion and misinformation from TMR. However, i am guessing they have got everytion sorted out now. In short, we went in to TMR the first day, showed them the email from optus and gave them the details of our existing drivers licence. Today, we received a temp licence via email and were told that we will receive the new licence shortly via post. We also received a comfirmation from optus today saying that our licence details were leaked. The temp licence shows the new changed licence number. So the licence number will change.

      Thanks that great , are you allowed to keep the old license number or just destroy it once you receive the new one ? I mean do you know how do you replace you old card number with the new one at different places where you have bee using your old card

        The temp licence tells you the you must carry the temp licence when driving. So i am guessing as soon as the temp licence is issued, the old licence is no longer valid. I would, however, still wait until the new licence arrives before you destroy the old licence.

        As far as the other places where you have been using your old licence details. I think, although they may have your drivers licence details, they would have only used them for varification purpose when they wanted to varify your identity. So there would be no reason for you to inform them about your licence number changes.

      Did they do a new photo or is it just a re-issue with a different number?

        We were originally told that we would need to come back for a new photo. However, the email that came with the temp licence said that TMR is just using most recent photo they had.

    I went to TMR early first day of new license announcement as well. They were making up the procedure on the fly. What TMR did at mine was cancelled my licence No. I think they call it CRN and handed back my licence once optus email produced. Said I can drive. Said will send me sms when to come back in to get new lic about 2 weeks. While inline they said will get temp lic as you described but as doors open they addressed us again with updated procedure as outlined. Received sms in about 4 days to come back in…which I haven't done yet as waiting for the rush to subside. You have reminded me and I will go today because I think I am driving around with no licence as it has been effectively cancelled. I did not get any temp licence. Will update you later today.

    Okay went to my local TMR. The system had been refined somewhat from when I went. They had optus effected ppl filling out form with all relevant details…hand form back then told to go home and new crn to be emailed to them and wait for further instructions. However I had TMR sms to say new licence is good to go. When I was at counter the teller did not have clear instructions how to process. I was her first return person. Showed her the TMR sms message so she processed reluctantly. There was debate if to take new pic or not with her supervisor…i said I am here want new pic for future proof for online renewal. They will post out new licence to me and expect it by 02/11. Gave me a A4 printed licence with new crn. Said the alt process being debated internally was whether to just post out new licence with new crn using the same old pic or bring them in for new pic. There is still a lot of confusion at TMR. Only the first 3 numbers changed on crn.

    Any one get their free qld license yet? Was expiry date extended? Wife DL was leaked applied at tmr over 2 months ago still have received anything. I only got a letter from optus last week saying details leaked but no id leaked would it count if i show them the optus letter?
