    • Yesterday, my problem was that when I returned after "identity verification completed", I clicked NEXT and there was a blank pop-up with an "OK" button. Couldn't go further.
      Now, I get "invalid IMEI".

    • Same here, apparently have two orders in, I had all sorts of issues with the phone number not working and then the card. My card has been charged $1 for verification. Now when I try to restart from scratch the IMEI is apparently invalid. Shit system.

  • Anyone know what time the trade-in has to be put into the website by today to receive a confirmation, in order to stack with this bonus gift offer that ends (midnight?) tonight? Is it too late if I try to do the trade-in after 5pm? I'm buying something off marketplace to do the trade in, and just don't know how big of a risk I'm taking if I go ahead and buy a second-hand device then end up not being able to trade-in tonight in time to get the GC/hub/cast offer on top.

    Done my trade in credit but now hearing horror stories about scrolling, battery life in sun/when bright, and wifi drop outs….

    Should I cancel? Might get S22 Ultra instead.

      I have been using it since 13/10:

      • Haven't had a single wifi or call drop out.
      • Reception is the same as previous phone (lg v30)
      • no issues with scrolling or touch sensitivity
      • I mean, you really shouldn't have any electronic device in direct sunlight for extended periods….I would think heat affected any device's battery life
      • camera….well, I came from an LG v30, so the camera is light years ahead

      My current issues:
      - Zuslab screen protector sucks balls
      - tap to wake doesn't work (or I'm doing it wrong)
      - I thought it had an Always on Display (if it does, then it isn't staying on)
      - having to adjust to android 13 (I came from android 9)

      • Having issue with the fingerprint with Zuslab Anti-spy tempered protector :(
        Always on display I guess you have to set up that.
        tab to wake works normal for me.

        • Tap or lift to wake usually works fine, you may have to double tap sometimes

        • I turned off always on, got a watch and Fitbit, not worth using extra battery for that (assuming it uses a bit).

        • easy to get used to newer android versions, and usually better;).

        PS. What's everyone selling the Google stuff for?

          Oh absolutely agree with "easy to get used to new android". I think I'm just at the "old man yells at cloud" phase. It is fun to have new features.

      • Nothing good with the sound , not happy with it
        May return it.

      • Still getting used to it, nothing wrong with that pixel 5, just find the face unlock and fingerprint fails sometimes, and need to use the pin. Low light not great for face unlock.

        Perhaps need to scan the thumb again since putting on the screen protector and or from more angles.

        Other than that the speakers could be better.

        The phone feels more premium overall with the weight and finish, just not worth $1000, but for $300 or so after discounts, bonuses and trade in it's ok.

    Did anyone have their online order cancelled?
    I paid with gift cards and credit card.
    The store closest to me was out of stock, so I made a click and collect at another store which said had stock.
    The reason said it didn't pass their verification process.
    I've emailed them, hopefully they it can get sorted. My voucher still says it's has been redeemed, so I cannot buy another one.

      If it was clear they would only charge $10 and $20 and be fine with (as in not blacklisted) - I would let my card get charged. But I've not seen a conclusive answer on this.
      Safest is probably to ask them?

    Spoke to online chat this morning as i ordered online and did click and collect on the 13/10. They mentioned to wait the full 7 days from collection date, otherwise after that call their support line.

      • staff in store can't do anything about online/click and collect orders.

        • Can't do anything is not entirely correct - in 1 store they did help my partner out.
          But eventually I also don't want to have to call and go through the process of - did them asking "did you check your spam, did you check your sms, … "

          When anybody runs a promo like this, it should be granted automatically.
          Anyway too early to complain, it's only fair to wait 7 days first before really complaining.
          (Maybe the first store we visited was way more appreciative, and went the extra mile. They are more likely to get our future business.)

  • I have an issue when slide up to get into the APP screen, the screen getting darker. But if I click any app, the brightness getting normal. It looks like kind of "Blue Light filter" effect, but I checked around and can't find any app caused it. Do you guys have similar issue?

    • You won't regret it. I only jumped from a Pixel 6 but I am very happy with the minor upgrades, it somehow feels very different to me.

    So they have one on order , did the deal on Sunday and got the Google nest and Chromecast , but was told $100 gc on collection of the phone

    But I have no ETA at the moment, and square trade don't seem to budge on the 7 days to ship my old one

    On Saturday I popped into nearest jbhifi, confirmed the stock for 256gb device. Registered for trade-in online (Max 15 mins process) and received the bonus coupon including trade-in device value within 2 mins via email. Walked into store, bought the phone. Got all the pre-order redemptions at the counter. Everything sorted in a single visit to the store.

One of the gcs did not work but the staff couldn’t tell which one did not work 🤷‍♂️. (later found out woolies messed up one gc during checkout and handed me a not scanned gc.. wth)

      PS anyone noticed the face unlock and thumb scanner doesn't work at night? The Pixel 5 one was perfect (at least takes a few goes the scanner).

      • update, it's recommended to re-scan fingerprints after the screen protector is on, which I did but have done again with more different angles etc so hopefully that improves things.

        There is also a setting under display for increased sensitivity (screen protector mode) which is also on.

          Face unlock just relies on the front camera - there is no Soli sensor array, hence low light causes inaccurate results.

          • @BugsBunnyAUS: yes, i didn't expect it to work after dark/low light, and doesn't have the same level of tech as the iphone unlock (ie. TrueDepth camera capture and infrared image). Works well enough during the day.

            It's just annoying when the fingerprint doesn't work either. Anyway will test it out. Sent the trade in phone back, so will have to be good enough now :P. Probably should have sold mine privately, someone got $410 yesterday on ebay for one.

            ps. Battery about 49% after 24h, not bad, wasn't using a;; that much but should be similar to the pixel 5.

            • @G-rig: When I first set up the Pixel, I set up my fringerprints in daylight with no issues. Then the next morning, I woke up early for work and while waiting in the dark at the bus stop, I was having a pretty poor success rate. I decided to delete and re-add all the prints, and since then I have had maybe 2 or 3 unsuccessful first attempts and that's it.

              So I guess my suggestion is, maybe try re-adding them all at night and see how you track.

              • @BugsBunnyAUS: Yeah have done that, worth re-adding, particularly after adding the screen protector. Have also tried to do it from more angles etc, and have enabled touch sensitivity (screen protectors mode) in the settings.

                Typing doesn't seem as good as my old phone, sometime skips a few characters or back spaces too fast, guess I could reset gboard.

                Have asked trade ins to send my pixel 5 back anyway, and will just debit the trade amount $220. Can sell for more but will test this phone out some more and decide if I should keep.

                • @G-rig: Turn off the touch sensitivity mode again and see how you go. That is likely what is causing your typing issues.
