How is this still instock at this price lol, i just checked musashi whey and its complete utter trash compared to this

    • Musashi 100% whey isn't too bad for the price when it's 50% off at CW.
Other variants however, I wouldn't touch.

  • I just a minute away to buy , and it’s expired 😢

Seems to be a lot of misinformation on here. Its their own brand , manufactured by them to keep costs down. WPC can be any mount of protein depending on what kind of flavouring / sweetening system they use. Sure its a bit lower than some, but it can be for various reasons usually to do with flavouring and sweeteners but also can come down to different processing methods which / may or may not have increased carbs and fats (by a small amount) but on the other side can have better undenatured protein.

It can be due to them adding on a bit of extra carbs for flavouring or for texture or for post workout etc. At the end of the day, its nutritional profile isnt that different to other WPCs. And frankly I would buy almost any thing over the crap Musashi has become these days.

I have bought this in the past, the WPI version. Its ok flavour, not the best but not the worst. This was a good price though.

I think it actually raised a good discussion, the link below that someone posted raised a good point regarding addition of amino acids (such as taurine and glutamine) to prop up protein content cheaply. This product lists that it does have added glutamine and taurine in the ingredients.

      https://blog.priceplow.com/protein-scam-amino-acid-spiking

Looking into glutamine for muscle protein synthesis use, this video from myprotein outlines that it does not do much for muscle building, rather muscle recovery instead.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z56h7l7LoEk

In the article linked above however, it provides an example where glutamine comes further down the ingredients list (after cacao powder), implying it is therefore not too much protein watering down. This product has glutamine and taurine after cacao powder and outside of the protein blend so that should provide some comfort.

All in all I'd say this was still a good buy at $13/kg, compared to the usual cheapest rate I see which is Musashi on sale at CW for $20/kg. Given that the protein market is quite saturated, it made me wonder how they offered it so cheap in comparison to their competitors with similar business models but it seems this was partly due to it being a new product they were doing a promotion on.

      • Firstly I wouldnt compare Musashi to almost any other protein brand out there, They are total crap and have gone downhill from when they used to be good (around 25 years ago and before selling out).

Glutamine and Taurine are amino acids and lots of people buy them separately as amino acid supplements, regardless Glutamine is quite popular and used by many for recovery as well as many brands add glutamine into their Whey products. Taurine is not as popular but there are still people who get it solo and some brands who add it. But considering both are as you mention below the flavouring, it doesnt really make much difference.

The point of WPC is denatured protein and the full complete amino acid profile and BV. IF people are more keen on just getting the BCAAs regardless of price or cost , then i would suggest they get WPI or actually get BCAA instead of Whey protein. If you get a EAA product you will get Glutamine and Taurine anyway for that matter quite a few BCAA products also add glutamine as a 4th amino acid to help with recovery.

The reason why i presume they are doing this is as they stated on their email , they need to clear space in their warehouse for other items they want to store. Perhaps these other items are more profitable per gram / space wise. It could also be they have too much stock.

Nothing against or for glutamine or taurine alone, I haven’t done much research on them, just think it is good to watch for their use in potentially propping up protein figures, if that is what someone is specifically after for muscle building.

Out of curiosity, where does your criticism of musashi stem from? I previously tried finding independent testing data of the protein content with no luck.

          I didn’t neg you btw.

@rarelyscene: No worries, we are just having a good discussion. There are some people on ozbargain who willy nilly neg when they think they know more than they actually do. Possibly a Musashi Fanboi and hence a neg. Thanks for letting me know you didnt neg me.

I use glutamine with BCAAs now, With Taurine i have tried it in the past and i know it was a lot more popular back a decade or 2 ago than it is now. They are both EAAs, so really are also important for a lot of bodily functions including muscle recovery or muscle building. For pure muscle building are they as important as BCAAs? No, but WPC or WPI isnt just the 3 big BCAAs anyway, they have a lot of other Amino Acids too. I dont think its a big issue unless the brand seems to have a lot of them OR more importantly if you are mainly after BCAAs only and dont care about EAAs but then i think you may prefer to just buy BCAAs. But you are right, its good to keep it in mind and be aware of it. As well as some of the other tactics companies use to reduce their costs in their ingredients tables.

There were some tests with Musashi a long time ago which showed some of their true colours. I am a bit harsh on Musashi because I was a big fan of theirs 25 years ago and they were my FIRST Protein supplement company, Bought them for years. But over time they sold out, put a lot more money into sponsorship, promotions, marketing etc. All that money had to come from somewhere and what happened was the ingredients they used in their supplements were lower quality than they used to be to cut costs. I hate how alot of their products have inferior processes or nutrients but they seem to hide behind just labels and marketing and aim for a lot of people who dont know much about supplements and nutrients and are just getting into it or dont have the time to research and spend a lot of their spare time reading up on them and trust the brand name as it used to be a good brand name and even now you see their name all over the place and so you think they are top notch.

Would i trust them over completely no name grocery store products, probably but not over most other brands. Other thing is their texture and mixability is really low quality as well as their flavouring, Again they cut corners in these areas to keep their costs down and profit margins higher.

    Order cancelled..

I'm genuinely sorry for the inconvenience, however, we didn't expect our sale for the Bandito Labs 100% Whey to be accepted this fast and we just realised that we sold out at around 6:PM yesterday. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing supply chain issues and extreme shortage of raw materials, we're unable to fulfil the remaining backorders so we had to discontinue the product. We're also unable to confirm when or if the product will resume in the future but we'll definitely update our website in case.

Please let me know if you'd like to change your order to any of your preferred products (you may add a payment or we'll refund the difference), or I can also convert it to store credits (Z points) with an additional 1000 Z points ($10) which you can use on your next or future orders from us, OR please let me know if you'd prefer a full refund instead.

We can also replace it with ONE unit of our AMINO Z WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE 1kg pouch delivered if that's okay with you.

I apologise once again for the error and we're truly grateful for your support :)

    Oh well

https://www.aminoz.com.au/bandito-labs-100-whey.html 3kg is now $200 maybe they did a price error, anyways mine shipped. I was in the market for around 3kg also. I will do half this and half my expensive pure WPI. All i need now is to buy taurine and maybe some bcaa's for intra workout

  • Dang nice deal, snapped up quick :(

  • Think mine is being delivered today 🤞

What does everyone suggest mixing this with? Milk/water/combo? I do a simple upper body barbell curl and pushups routine daily. Thinking a couple of scoops in a shake straight after with a raw egg should work well.

    • You should do some research on the safety of consuming raw egg. Lots of different bacteria in the egg which could make your very sick.
Lots of better way to get protein intake without the risk

  • Mine just arrived. It's extremely sweet, their own brand (Amino Z) WPI was much nicer

    • I dare someone to drink a full scoop with 250ml water/milk. Yea i'm going to have to use half scoop with another brand plus atleast 300ml or higher.. its really sweet lol

    • Yes its even sweeter than any milkshake I've ever had LOL. Have to find something unflavoured to mix with this I think.

  • all 3 x 1kg arrived today with the best-before date of Oct 2024. Sweet!
