Great game and triple dipped. Steam, ps4 and now switch.

Game was released last Thursday and amazon still haven't got a copy to me yet. Would recommend just popping by into JB and price matching amazon or big w if you want it quick.

Reviewers have been impressed by this port on switch.

As a game, it's amazing and I would even call it a masterpiece. Do note that this should be played blindly and keep play even when you get to the credits.

This game is not for you if you are going to stop at the first ending, do not like a mix of different gamplay genre, looking for beautiful environment (it can look quite bland) or if you do not like "anime-ness".

But story, music, gameplay 10/10. I finished this game 2 year ago and still think about the game

Nobody tell this person about Nier Replicant and Kainé.

Honestly Nier Automata is one of my favourite games of all time, shame if you can't look past some skimpy outfits although I believe there are unlockable costumes to dress the character in which are probably just as skimpy but maybe slightly less.

Also my wife loves this game too and bought me a lovely music box based on the game's ending music as a random present. Don't have a daughter though.

Fair point, and its the director's vision to have it this way but I can understand your point of view.

Did not downvote you on this.

        • +13

It's not a fair point at all, it's stupid virtue signalling and is sexist in itself.

"dads with daughters"? How about "parents with daughters?", this person failed at their own attempt of not being sexist. I know they add "and women in general" to broadly include 50% of the population, but I think the first statement is a lot more telling of their opinions, which I will firmly downvote every time.

          • @eagerfisherman: This comment was edited with the addition of the second paragraph from the time i hit reply to submitting my response. My statement on fairpoint was for the first paragraph where it's not for him/her

          • +7

@eagerfisherman: Their statement hinges upon their belief that there is something wrong with the way women dress and should dress appropriately according to his beliefs.

Women should be able to dress however they want and not be shamed for it.

          • +1

@eagerfisherman: Is it virtue signalling? I'm a keen street fighter player but then I had girls and I rethought a lot of the media I consume. For example, I don't play much street fighter now. The outfits the women characters wear are just too full on.

      • +1

Well it is a game so don't take it too seriously. Also helps it to sell. I really dont see any difference to a movie like Suckerpunch.

      • +1

YEAH! Women should look ugly and dress ugly! This is current year baby!

    • +2

I played it for 20hours and got bored because yeah the environment and the monsters are bland and boring

      • I played for 10 hours and got stuck looking for the next mission location. The could not get my head around the map. Gave up.

        • +1

          Try YouTube for walkthrough videos?

      • I am coming to the same conclusion. Very slow and would rather play xenoblade

    • Amazingly enough, Amazon delivered the game to me last Thursday. I was also very happy when Splatoon 3 was delivered on release day too.

I'd still suggest pre-ordering and picking it up at retail if someone MUST have a game on release day, based on my own past experiences with Amazon.

But they have managed to get it right for me twice in a row, with the last 2 games I preordered from them. Which is 2 occasions more than I had expected.

Fully agree. I think about this game all the time, and that ending! Hardest part is wanting to tell people about it, but not spoil it.

Definitely on the list of "things I wish I could go back and experience for the first time again"

For the "first ending" comment, there are 26 "endings" in the game. 5 are directly story related (A-E) and the rest are for doing stupid stuff or dying in a unique, non-battle way. I'd consider the game done when you've played endings A-E. Stopping at A is definitely the wrong spot to stop - there's heaps left of the game after that point.

Hi thank you everyone placed the order.

Do I need to have played the previous games in the series or can start this fresh when I get it.

    • +3

No, you do not need to play previous games to enjoy or know what is going on. There are some ties to the older games but you can always play those after if you want some more

      • +2

        Oh perfect thank you!

  • +1

Should I wait for a better price or is this just going to have stock issues? $5 off isn't much..

    Big W: $49
    Jb: $54

So it's not a difficult to find release at the moment

    • +1

Depends how far down the road.

I don't expect the price to go down significantly in the next 6-12 months since I am sure the game will do well and the starting price is already very cheap for Switch.

For reference, Bravely Default 2 started at around $59 and went as low as $28 brand new around 2 years later, but now back to around $35-50. I'd expect Nier to do better.

Saying that Square Enix games tend to lose value quite quickly due to the supply, won't be as bad as Final Fantasy though.

    • The GOTY physical PS4 version barely drops below $49 since its release in 2019.

I'd be very surprised if this ever goes for much less, when it's a recent release + the Switch tax.

By all means wait and see, but it could be like waiting for big drops on 1st party titles that barely happen.

      • It is currently $39.95 on Amazon

      • The resell value of the Switch version should definitely be better.

The PS4 GOTY edition is just the standard game with a one-use download code for the additional contents.

AFAIK, the Switch version is the complete game with the previous DLCs coded in, with the Switch exclusive outfits as a free DLC.

        • That's a good point.

I've never executed an OzBargain purchase that quick in my life.

Been wanting to play this for ages but put it off when the Switch release announced, just waiting for this $ from amazon. Easy as, thanks for the post!

  • Arriving 2nd November! :(

Going to cancel and go to a regular shop

  • 30fps kills it for me personally.

  • This game's a cartridge right? What happens to my digital games that are downloaded if I sell my Switch. I can reset it and download them again on another Switch after I log in?

    • +1

      Yes physical.

Purchased digital games are linked to your Nintendo account so yes but make sure to reset the old Switch before you sell to avoid funny business there.

  • +2

Should I get this on Steam for the video quality?

    • +3

Depends on your PC capabilities. Also, not sure about the situation now, but when I played it on PC, I had to play with the FAR mod because square Enix didn't port it properly.

Switch is running consistent 30 fps at 1080p docked and 720p handheld based on testing in the initial area.

  • +2

Those who played it before, notice in this cover you can see her eyes

  • +1

10/10 masterpiece and I don't give ratings like that if i don't mean it, I guarantee this is one of the BEST games you will ever play. If for some ungodly reason you do not like it, you should stick to Fortnite. Immerse yourself in it and I promise you will not regret it.

  • +1

This is a good game, definitely worth buying, however if you are going to play it on a TV all the time, then might as well play it on steam or Playstation, most likely cheaper than getting it on switch

  • +2

It seems to be a regular price at big w, amazon is matching it. Personally I’d wait for further drop, about $40?

  • +1

my favourite game of all time!
