  • Has anyone ever had their (any brand) security camera stolen before?

    • Never

    • Nope, and I bought Arlo Pro 2 ages ago that were just magnetic

I have an older set of the 4k cameras and am very happy with them.

Don't forget to check for the latest firmware if you have a new or existing system https://reolink.com/download-center/

    • Do you update the NVR 1st before the cameras' firmware or does the order not matter?

      • +1

By memory I did the NVR first but don't think it matters

        • Thanks for that. And is it true if the cameras are running through the NVR that they won't integrate with Alexa?

  • Got this for 544 not too long ago as a backup set

Can recommend- the camera picture quality and build is decent and their app is way better than many.
i did end up upgrading the HDD which is fairly straight forward. All connected via POE and running for past 3 years whit no issues. (DIY install)

  • I have a problem with this camera, install for 2 home with router dlink D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router
DIR-2680, i have to use mobile data with reolink App. They not work on wifi on the same network. So everytime I want to check camera on mobile, i have to turn off wifi, very annoying.
Does anyone have similar problem and know how to fix? Thanks

Some routers have a function where you get your device automatically transferred from the 2.4GHz to the 5GHz WiFi connection.
A tale tell that that may be the case is having the same name for the 2.4 and 5.
I had to turn off a feature in my router called "bandwidth steering" to be able to give distinct names to the 2 "stations". postfixed with 2 and 5 respectively.
This allows me to connect automation and surveillance devices that are 2.4 only with my mobile forced to connect to the 2.4 as well.
Not sure if this is the case with your problem but maybe worth a check.

      • Thanks. I will give it a try. Hopefully if it work.

  • no issues as far as i am aware- are you sure you are using the same cameras or some different ones.
Also how r they connected POE to NVR ?

    • Yes. All same camera and connect poe to nvr. Only have a problem when using wifi with the app, everything else work fine. Just check router and I see there are seperate 2.4 and 5 band as well. Maybe this router block the nvr

      • is your NVR not connected via cable to the router . try changing the wi-fi you are connected to from 5 to 2.4 or vice versa.
have you tried it with the software on laptop. Check in NVR settings and you can find the ip address assigned to the camera - try to ping that from your phone and see if you can talk when on same wi-fi. i use a mesh network so can not replicate the same issue.

If you're thinking about getting a camera system for your home, want the best value for money, easy set up and easy to use, get this. I did all the research already and settled on this, installed it myself and it was plug and play. Super quick to set up with a monitor connected to the NVR and now just use the mobile app to live stream and review footage.

Don't stress about getting more cameras, just get the 4, install them and then figure out where you want more coverage. You'd be surprised how much you learn after you get the initial 4 up and running about where you need more cameras and where you actually don't need any.

    • Thanks for the info ! Am in the market for security cameras, being not tech savvy, may I ask if it is "really" easy to DIY or because you have tech knowledge that's why it is easy for you ? Also is there indoor cameras you would recommend as well where you can set the alarm for downstairs while you are sleeping upstairs ???

      • +1

It is actually easy. Their website has good support too.
The only thing that was hard was running the ethernet cables but that is an access problem, not technical.

I got a 520 model for indoors as I didn't need the 4k. Plug and play into the NVR.

    • I looked earlier this year, sort of settled on Reolink, but didn't buy. Any other models you considered? Wondering if a spotlight cam would be useful. We live rural, and it can be pitch black outside.

      • Cams have their own IR lights to generate the "light" needed. Get the cams then if that is not enough, get separate LED spotties next to them.

  • Can this system be integrated into Home Assistant?

    • Amazon description-
Cameras in the kit can only be used with Reolink PoE NVR. Cameras in the kit cannot work with Alexa or Google Home.
