So I’m so mad, yesterday I spent $1000 EFTPOS gift card (10 x reward points)then used that to purchase $1000 only one night out Visa gift card . The reason I bought it as I always could use it on shopback. So when I tried it now 3 times it won’t work.
Arghhh now what am I going to do with $1000 card? I tried using it at Amazon, Prezzee, and it won’t work.
Any advice on where I can use it online ?
What Do I Do with The Only 1 Visa Night out Gift Card $1000 Worth?

Miscellaneous Food Stores
Mmmmm miscellaneous food….
What is considered miscellaneous food stores?
Probably chains like QE Food Stores that you find in some larger apartment complexes.
well im stuffed then having 2 x $500 physical cards to carry around in my wallet, i hardly go to the above places. I already have restaurant gift card which i use frequently so don't need the night out gift cards. There must be some website i can use it like amazon etc, yes so upsetting that shop back is not letting me use it.
Why would you think you could use it wherever you wanted?
If that was the case you'd have been better off sticking with the EFTPOS card, and conducted a little research on what the 'Night out' card would cover (pretty self-explanatory though, right there in the name).
There was a similiar thread on here the other day about the home improvement gift card.
But they specifically list out the merchant types you can use it with?
The OnlyONE Night Out Gift Card can only be used at the following Visa Merchant Groups: Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages) – Bars, Taverns, Nightclubs, Cocktail Lounges, and Discotheques (5813), Fast Food Restaurants (5814) – Ticket Agencies and Theatrical Producers (7922), Bowling Alleys (7933), Tourist Attractions and Exhibit (7991), – Video Game Arcades/Establishments (7994), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals (7996)
There was a loophole (not sure if it was on the merchant’s end or the gift card issuer’s end) where you could redeem category-restricted OnlyONE Visa gift cards at Shopback’s gift card portal and eBay, even though those merchants should not fall under one of the listed merchant types. Don’t ask me how that worked, but it did. This loophole was around for quite a while, but a pricing error on category-restricted OnlyONE Visa gift cards at Woolworths exposed this loophole on OzBargain… and it was shut a few weeks later!
@JIMB0 sums up the situation pretty well. I always try to have a back-up plan for my gift cards if a loophole closes or a participating retailer withdraws from a gift card scheme or a participating retailer changes how it accepts a gift card I have.
I used my old night out gift card last week on shopback and it worked. So thought if I buy a new one it should work as well. But obviously I’m stuffed up. At least a eftpos card would have been worth it instead of changing it to night out.
If the first 8 digit is the same as the old one, it might be still working. Just wait for a week or so before trying.
@Neoika: I have thrown the old card away so not sure what the card numbers are, but tried again this morning and it says too many multiple attempts. Ok will wait a week and see
Should have bought a birthday card. There is currently a loophole where you can use it on days that aren't your birthday.
According to the link posted above there are 5 or 6 different cards that can be used anywhere prepaid visa is accepted.
… except those gift cards come with a $5.95 or $7.95 purchase fee.
OP purchased the Night Out gift cards, because they do not come with a purchase fee (which is the trade-off you make for being locked to specific merchant category codes).
Makes sense. Although that $5.95 seems like not such a bad deal if OP “can’t” use the night out card…
I've seen a few of these types of posts lately.
I never buy giftcards, but do people not do their own research or read the terms and conditions BEFORE putting down large amounts of money on these? (It's pretty common knowledge that they're not refundable!)
These posts are from people who were trying to take advantage of a loophole then complained when it was closed. They didn't account for the risk that they may be stuck having to spend the card as intended by the issuer.
if if you are in the nrma they have fabilous discount restarants like 20 percent off pancakes on the rocks
Cinimon scroll the way..
Are brothels considered tourist attractions?
Not sure that you are allowed to dine out in brothels.
Nor would you want to 'dine out' at a brothel.
Looks like they come under the Spa & Beauty cards ;)
The OnlyONE Spa and Beauty Gift Card can only be used at the following Visa Merchant Groups: Beauty and Barber Shops (7230), Health and Beauty Spas (7298), Miscellaneous Personal Services (7299), Lodging – Hotel, Motels, Resorts (7011), Massage Parlors (7297).Had a laugh at the Fast Food card though…
The OnlyONE Fast Food Gift Card can only be used at the following Visa Merchant Groups:Eating Places, Bars, Nightclubs, Pubs and Restaurants (5812,5813,5814) Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996)
Not sure which is worse, that they are part of the fast food card or that they have their own merchant category…Might only apply to Fortune Cookies…
If you cannot do anything with it, you may as well just gift it to someone else
Gift $500 per card to someone else?
Hmmm I don’t give expensive presents.
I’m hoping someone will give me a link or something to purchase .
There is a miscellaneous food stores near me but more trial and error if they accept and i don’t spend much there like $20 a month or not evenMaybe the Miscellaneous food store near you sells gift cards (hopefully you can buy something that you want - JBHiFi, Amazon, ebay)?
Wait for another loophole in the three yrs.
Go out with some friends, use the card, and they can pay you back?
I went to 5 different miscellaneous Indian and Asian grocery stores and 7/11 (no petrol station) and none of them worked , obviously only mcas worked.
Tried using this card at shopback again and it doesn’t work. So they have stopped 100% . I used to use this here before .
Lots of "night out" options.
