  • My bigw prints came out terrible. Weird colors etc.
    Hope these are better

    • where you colours quite vibrant? If so, that'd be the reason. Also always good to up the brightness a tad when printing - they tend to come out darker.

      • no, where everything looks like I'm wearing purple/green colored glasses
and there's random white border where they cut the paper wrong

random. not the set border option
1mm here, 0.3mm there, not straight

if it wasn't tinted, I'd have to trim the pic 2mm off each side to get it usable.

luckily I only put $1 on it to test 1st.

could've been loaded up properly. If you showed them they would've re printed.

        • most likely they don't take care of calibration etc, or maybe their ink's expired hence the $1 deal?

still not seeing any $1 on HN, anyone got a link?

        • BigW reprinted mine where there was an issue, no problem.

        • They don't use ink. Something else would've gone wrong.

        • I don't know, and I assume each shop will differ in the care they take. But clearly they don't even bleed their prints, and the paper is either cut or their machine feeder is completely out of whack.

HN use a proper wet process, and I've never had issues there.

        • Harvey Norman and Big W now use the same machines, even the kiosk is the same, bar the branding.

The paper was most likely not loaded properly, or moved for whatever reason.

  • No $1 here

    8 x 12" Digital Photo Print
    $3.75 -> $2.25

    • No deals in-store either.

  • How long does it take to make prints?
I've got a 1 hour time window on Friday in the city and wondering if it's possible to get them printed in that time.

    Edit:
NVM, the HN closes at 6.30pm and that's when I've got time -headdesk-

    • You can order them online and pick them up at a store when you've got time. No waiting around required

BIG W customers still have today and tomorrow to pick up 11"x14" prints for $1.

  • I jumped on this last time they did $1 prints and was very happy with the quality.

  • HN's current catalogue (1- Jun - 1 Jul) states on the back page 8 x 12 prints for $1 (it doesn't state whether only instore).

Online printing doesn't reflect these prices.

They need to offer it either on-line or instore.

    ETA:
I just phoned our local HN store and they said deal is for instore only and yes they definitely have them for $1 each.

    • which state?
didn't see it instore in NSW

Victoria - frankston (please don't hold that against me!)

I am going to head in there in the next hour or so to try adn do the 8 x 12 prints (am taking catalogue with me). I will be very p**sed if they don't honour the deal, especially since I phoned to check.

Will let you know what happens!

Just got some 8 x 12 prints done - quality was good.

The 8x12" and 8x10" are $1 in store until Jul 1. Have a copy of their flyer regarding it but not sure how to (or if I can) attach it to this post.

    • Thanks for this. I am getting the $1 11 x 14" prints from Big W today and thought I will get some in smaller sizes as well and then frame them. I can now go to Harvey Norman and get the smaller sizes for a $ as well. Thanks heaps. Now on the hunt for cheap (but good quality) frames.

you know what would be interesting, if you print the same at HN, see how the two compare?

        • +1

I did. Got some printed at Big W in 11 x 14 then the same photo at HN in 8 x 12.
They both use Fuji photo software and machines and there was no difference in the quality.

Both were very good - the photo files though were good resolution and taken with SLR so that helped with the quality.

There was no difference in the colours or the quality between my local HN and Big W and for $1 a print there were both a great bargain.

Time for an ozbargain deal on frames I think!!

        • From memory, Kmart use Kodak or something. Last time I used them was about 4 years ago. Print quality was terrible. They over sharpen the images per print and colours weren't right. Always used Harvey for day to day photos, so it was nice to see big w was the same!

        • At $1 a print I did a comparison between the two also.

My colours were not the same between stores, and the HN version of the same pic is decidedly flat compared to the BigW print.

Another thing I noticed with the HN prints though is that they've cropped the side of the head to make it fit the strange (to me)ratio.

If I wanted people's ears chopped off I'd have done it myself.

        • If your photos weren't the right ratio they automatically trip top and bottom, or sides. You have the option to choose WHICH part to trip, or alternatively no trim. But that's a manual choice.

  • Their 9c per 4x6" is a pretty good deal too. I just ordered a whole bunch. Also you get 15 free 5x7" if you're a new customer. Pretty good deal! I took advantage of it.

If my Big W prints are disappointing I may get a few of the smaller ones at HN as well.

    I'm gonna need a lot of frames… :S

  • Is this deal online only?
    Or in store as well?
Told my wife to get prints today and she paid 12 cents.
If it should have been 9 cents I will be going back tomorrow to get some money back.
