What's the ideal weight?
3U or 4U, its standardised that rackets are approx 83grams.
Do not touch any aluminium or steel rackets.
Do not buy any rackets that come in a set of 2 , or come with shuttles - these are backyard badminton kits and will not survive playing proper indoors badminton.
A few things -
Stick to the known brands - Yonex, Victor, Lining.
Don't buy anything that is made of metal (Steel or Aluminium) - these will bend after a few hits - these rackets are meant for backyard badminton.
Go to your local badminton shop and ask for their recommendation. Yonex and Victor make beginners rackets from $80. A top tier racket is usualyl ~250-300.
If this is your first time playing - go for a beginner racket. If you intend to keep playing to get better, go for an intermediate one.
If cost is a real issue for you, ask your friends if they have old rackets you can borrow long term, or buy - most players have old rackets theyve moved on from.
Those are in USD and won't ship to Australia. It might even break in transit
Have you checked local sporting stores like https://decathlon.com.au/search?q=Badminton? There are some as low as $15 but these ones will be a little heavier than branded ones like Yonex Arcsabers or Astrox.
