Hey everyone,
I have recently purchased an Intel NUC M15 Laptop. O O was extremely helpful in pointing out 2 TB4 docks (listed below with current pricing).
1. J4create USB4 Dual 4K Mult-Port Hub $109
2. ALOGIC Thunderbolt 4 BLAZE Hub $$229
Anyways, I have gone back over many deals to see if any other dock would better suit my needs and I came across Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4 $360. This dock covers all my needs + more and is upgradable for any future changes (the side panel can be removed to upgrade 2x TB ports). I am wondering if anyone has used this on the NUC and if so, did everything work fine? Could anyone also advise if I need to buy a brick charger for this device to work with non-dell laptops (I know dell normally just use the laptop charging cord)?
Would there also be a different difference in quality / performance for this over the Alogic dock?
Sorry, this is a little long, I wanted to add a few extra details as this question has not been asked and the NUC seems popular (help people out in future).
We have those Dell Docks at every desk in the office and they're rock solid functionality-wise but the USB-C connector plastic cover has broken on well over 50% of them. The little LED in them gets hot and either melts glue or warps plastic and they pop off, so make sure you've got a good warranty if that bothers you. Doesn't affect the functionality though, works just fine without the connector cover.
Found this image online of a different model but the exact same connector cover issue: https://i.imgur.com/E8tvKCM.png
They are powered by the same barrel jack as the Dell laptops but you need the higher power ones to drive multiple large screens. I believe the standard 65W brick Latitude laptops come with doesn't cut it.
There is something amusing about paying $360 for a dock for a $999 cheap laptop though…
