60W for 4000 Lumens, are you kidding?

    • what is wrong with that ?

      • +3

Normal traditional DLP projectors are about 300W power consumption and 3000 lumens.

These LED toy ones are normally 50W power consumption and 200 lumens.

60W for 3000 lumens, must be allien technology.

        • Thanks for saving my $179s

300w projector would be using an incandescent. You wouldn't expect a LED based light source to use anywhere near the same amount of power for the same output.

(that doesnt mean i believe Kogans rating though).

Edit: 'Laser' brand have a similar projector. Their stats make this Kogan one make a more sense. https://www.laserco.com.au/PJT-DVDHD-906

"50W power consumption, "LED bulb output 3800 Lumens White light output 85 Ansi lumens"

So yeah this Kogan isnt going much over 90 ANSI.

          Chinese lumens haha

      • Basically this is like bragging a car with 1.0T engine has 500 hp and 600 Nm torque.

Don't know why you were negged, it's a good point - it's basically impossible for this to output 4K lumens and consume only 60 watts.

      I bet it's closer to 400 lumens than 4000.

This was brought up on a previous deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11101434/redir

Given that Kogan is likely quoting lumens of the LED light source (as it is not using lumens rating in its specs) and that the transmittance of single panel LCD is around 5-7% for high transmittance panels, you will be looking at an approximately 200 - 280 ANSI lumens equivalent output.

The unit looks like a rebadaged AUN ET40 which goes from around $170 on Aliexpress. The quoted brightness on Aliexpress is 380 ANSI Lumens for the unit.

      • Not just the aun, there's loads of brand all rebadging this thing, and many other projectors like it. The salange version is the cheapest I've seen and that went down to $130 a few weeks back. I keep being tempted and then thinking it'll likely be garbage that we'd barely use.

Why stop at 4000 lumens? The moon's the limit… Might as well say 10,000 lumens.

    • +3

Make it a funny number at least eg 69,420 limens

Would pull the trigger if this is shortthrow type of projector

  • 4000 lumens ÷ 30 = 133 ANSI lumens

  • +1

    4000 ÷ 27.5 ≈ 145 (125-175) ANSI Lumens.

    • Exactly this.

  • wow more power efficient than my ceiling mounted epson

  • Kogan should stop selling really bad projector
