Cheapest Way to Get PS5 Games and Subscriptions

Finally decided to get a ps5 but then heard the slim is coming next year. Alas it is too late to regret.

However, it's been a while since I've gotten a console and would like to know the cheapest ways to get games and whatever subscription the ps5 has (last console was a ps3 so the sub really wasn't necessary for online games) .

I've applied the turkey hack to subscription services such as Netflix, Spotify, YouTube and Google One. Trying to similarly decrease costs and I looked at the post for turkey PlayStation Plus but it seems like it no longer works and the instructions were not clear/out of date. Does that apply to games and subscription…how do I play that on my Australian account, which of the new subscription tiers is worth, etc.

Lots of stuff which I've heard but don't know the actionable steps for so please help me out.

Forgive me if I've made any formatting errors, the sleep schedule is truly in shambles.

There is no confirmation of any “PS5 Slim” whatsoever. Just unsubstantiated rumours, so nothing to have buyers remorse over. Yet.

I don’t mess around with those Turkey subs so can’t help you there, but check out the PS+ Extra collection of 400 PS4 + PS5 games which may be value to you.

Otherwise, physical discs are constantly on sale and far cheaper than digital purchases if you wish to start a collection and/or prefer to own games than rent them.

    • Hmm. So does having a PS plus subscription grant you access to all those games that come every month or is that a you have to add it to your library and you only have that month to get it. Is that the 400 you mentioned or are those different games? too much stuff going on for a simple console imo

PS+ Essential grants you 3 monthly games to claim and keep for as long as you have a PS+ subscription. These don't go away from your PS+ library.

PS+ Extra grants above, plus access to a catalog of 400 PS4 and PS5 games. These are Netflix-style access so some titles come and go over time and you can only play them with an Extra subscription.

PS+ Deluxe grants both tiers above plus some limited PS1, PS2 and PSP games. Not currently regarded as value for money.

PS+ Premium grants all above plus cloud streaming of PS3 games but not available in Australia. Only if you choose to have US/UK etc account.

There may be PS+ discounts for Black Friday. Usually were in previous years but that was before the new PS+ tier change so unknown.

        • so the monthly games cannot be claimed again after the month is over? Seems like ps+ extra is the way to go and then upgrade to premium when cloud support reaches us. Which I hope is sometime soon but then again probably not due to all the latency stuff :(

The PS+ gift cards were on special prior to xmas last year, so you may be able to save on those if you can wait a month or two. I'm sorry that I can't offer advice on the levels etc (it is my kid who uses it), but there does seem to be savings from having it and there are different free games each month.
