Hi all,
I'm going overseas in May next year and I'm considering getting a credit card that gives a large amount of Frequent Flyer points when you spend a few thousand in the first few months.
I was thinking that I'd pay off the remainder of the trip on the credit card (hitting the spending requirement to earn the points), then use the points for the flights I want. Is there an obvious issue with doing this? It seems a little bit too good to be true.
There are Reward Seats available for my flight there (Brisbane to Quito) but I can't find anything for the return leg (Buenos Aires to Brisbane). I can find QANTAS flights for the return leg home on their website but can't seem to find the option for checking Reward Seats.
Does anyone have any experience using QANTAS FF for multi city flights? If the downside is that I can only use the points to get there and book separate flights home I'm ok with that, but it isn't ideal.
I have a good credit score and am financially literate and won't have an issue with paying off the credit card to avoid interest etc. so I'm mostly wondering what the downsides with this plan would be.
I don't see any issue with this, but you should be aware it can take some weeks before the points actually credit into your account. They don't appear instantly!
The second leg likely just doesn't have any reward seats available, so you may not be able to use points for that one. Play around with different dates and/or different cities/routes. It may be easier to book single legs.
