Interesting idea from Rex - an auction style bidding process is being launched for upgrades. They're starting the bid at $10!

Feel like people who were gonna book business anyway will book economy and then end up bidding for business anyway for slightly cheaper?
Interesting idea from Rex
Hardly innovative. This is not a new idea in the world of airline travel.
I think the new part is that it shows if you've been outbid in the seven days leading up to your flight.
Will 'start from $10' but, if any other airlines are a guide, really it will be 'starts from $200' or some amount that isnt really that much of a saving
Airlines love advertising a “starting from price” which rarely is practical or followed through on.
A starting bid should never be an indication of the final price. Have you ever participated in an auction before?
Not that interesting - heaps of airlines will send you an email before your flight offering you to bid for upgrades to higher classes or empty seat rows. I remember Air Asia doing it years ago, and I also got an upgrade to Emirates business class for and extra $200 BNE-AKL about 8 years ago.
