RSPCA Donations - Every Dollar Doubled Today (6/10)

Hi everyone, the OzBargain community are a generous bunch so I want to let everyone know that for today only (6/10) every dollar donated to the RSPCA will be doubled.

Check out the RSPCA's website for more details https://www.rspcagivingday.com/event/rspca-nsw/donate?utm_so…

For today only, we are raising $400,000 across New South Wales to help us get over 2,600 animals ready for their second chance at a loving home. Give to Get Them Home today!

As of right now, any donation you make will be DOUBLED by our generous matching supporters, until we reach our goal.

DOUBLE MY GIFT NOW!
You can make a kind gift of $75, to be doubled, which can then help give an abused or abandoned animal everything they need to prepare for a forever home.

That means you can help pay for:

behavioural assessments

vet checks

desexing

microchipping

vaccinations

… and more!

All gifts will be matched today, dollar for dollar, until we reach our target. These vitals funds will make a life-changing difference for the vulnerable animals who come to us for help.

DONATE NOW to make TWICE the impact for animals.

DOUBLE MY GIFT NOW!
Stay tuned—we’ll provide live updates throughout the day on how we’re tracking.

Our work to help mistreated animals simply wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you!

  • These vitals funds will make a life-changing difference for the vulnerable animals who come to us for help.

Pretty sure that doesn't include the ones they buy to cook for their fundraiser bbqs. Or the ones they give their blessings to in the slaughterhouses. Or pretty much most that ain't a cat or dog.

RsPCA are just part of the furniture, animal ag's high priests that make people comfortable with exploiting animals.

would you rather they save some, or throw their hands up and save none? doesn't make a difference to the cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, but it makes a difference to the dog or cat that gets saved from execution.

There are plenty of shelters that have something resembling actual animal rights stances, and there'd be more if the rspca wasn't around. There'd be less cats and dogs if people actually cared, and much less wholesale violence in the slaughterhouses. Try harder.

        • whole lotta words for a bunch of fanciful tales, people fart rainbows in this world without the rspca?

There'd be less cats and dogs if people actually cared

your problem isn't with the rspca, it's with human nature. think harder.

@[Deactivated]: Current human nature is to war, rape, steal, get cancer. That doesn't mean we condone those things - we realise we're better off without them and create ways to mitigate against.

            think harder

I've thought plenty about this, pretty sure many years more than the amount of time it takes to make a knee-jerk reaction on an online forum. And always thinking more, ready to be properly challenged. I trust you've actually thought about this for all of 5 minutes max.

@fantombloo: Really shows how overprivileged us western folk are that you have so few real problems going on in your life that you seemingly spend all day thinking about / keyboard fighting for a cause you know deep down is a war you will never win. How many years have you wasted thinking about this lost cause? Couldn’t you spend your time doing something productive?

Maybe you should think less about this unwinnable war and just enjoy a hot plate of bacon and cHicKeN pErIOds washed down with a glass of RaP3 jUiCe.

              • @Some Human: Ending slavery, women's rights, gay rights, 8 hour work days, the right to openly not believe in various gods - all unwinnable wars at some time.

                real problems

60 billion terrestrial and trillions of aquatic sentient beings being exploited and killed annually for no sensible reason is IMO a real problem.

                • @fantombloo: It's not really the same though, is it? All the things you listed are human rights related.
Humans tend to care more for their own kind than for lesser beings like pigs and cows.

Maybe if you socialised with people outside of your privileged western people group, you would see that a large majority of people from around the world see animals as the lesser beings they are and they always will.
I was speaking with my Vietnamese mate about kookaburras one time and the first thing he said was "do you think they would taste good?"

Do you think he will join your cause?

I work with an Irani man who told me a woman was on the same level as a fridge, but now is almost the same level as a car. Do you think he will support your cause?

                  Never going to happen.

Think less about this futile cause and live more. You'll be happier for it.

                  • @Some Human: This same conversation was had about black people 200 years ago and women 100 years ago.

                    Have a good day.

                    • @fantombloo: Slavery and female oppression still exists.
You just don't see it because it's not on our shores.

    generous matching supporters

If they have the money why don’t these ‘generous’ people just donate instead of waiting for others to donate first.

    • +1

What a hot take - these extremely generous donors aren't that generous seeing as they're only going to fork out ~$400k once other people donate!1!!

    • +1

My information from several people who work for charities is that these generous people will give the money anyway. They and the charities are using this as marketing strategy to increase donations from the public.

  • Does it include smash windows to rescue pet stickers?

  • +2

Geez didn't realise there was so much hate for the RSPCA. I thought the OzBargain community liked them (e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/671212) and I've always found them helpful

    • +1

Some people just like trolling. Ignore them. RSPCA do good work, especially their inspectors.

This might have been better posted as a deal for more awareness?

      • I posted this as a deal last year but apparently it doesn't count as a deal

  • -2

$1 towards pet care, $99 towards wages and bonuses out of every $100 then they price gouge customers at the shelters. PASS. Charities are a scam these days. Id rather chuck my money in the bin for a vagrant to find

    • Id rather chuck my money in the bin for a vagrant to find

I'd like to see that; let us know when you are doing it.

      • +1

I just stuck $5 in my recycling. Pm me for address

        • Thanks. When is your recycling collected, because it may go to the depot before any 'vagrant' has an opportunity.

  • Queensland has a different donation page:
    https://www.rspcagivingday.com/event/rspca-qld/donate?utm_so…

  • With their new 3 day hold of pets til kill I’ll pass and give money to a genuine animal rescue.
