[iOS, Android] ANZ Save Account (App-Only Account) 3.25% p.a. Interest on Balance Less than $250,000 @ ANZ Plus

280

Hey it's OzInterestRateAlerts again.

ANZ are increasing the interest rate for their app only ANZ Save account by 0.25% on October 12, going from 3% to 3.25%.

No, it's not the best rate (personally I'm partial to ubank's 3.6%), but ANZ Plus isn't without it's perks. I think this is the highest interest rate around that has no hoops, as long as you don't consider it being app only a hoop. The app is coming along but is still missing some functionality like recurring payments, you also can't make payments directly from the Save account.

app only again stupid ANZ marketing

It's the new trend with these so-called neobanks; Ubank and Up Bank are also like this. Stupid, I agree.

        Ubank has web banking.

        • Okay, I wasn't aware they have it now but they didn't on launch (of the 86400 rebrand).

          Ubank website mentions:

Use our award-winning app or brand new online banking

          • @ascorbic: UBank has been around for many years, and has always had a web interface. I assume your comment relates only to 86400 customers.

            • @BigBirdy: Yes, I'm aware. There's effectively "legacy Ubank" (not taking new customers) and "new Ubank" which are completely separate. Legacy Ubank's internet banking was not available to new customers when 86400 rebranded.

      • but ANZ is not a neo bank???

        • +1

"ANZ Plus" is their attempt at a neobank, just like how Bendigo Bank's neobank is Up. The only difference is they're sharing the ANZ brand. The accounts are still completely separate.

No, it's not the best rate

So why is this a bargain?

    • +6

No hoops when compared to Ubank, ING, Virgin etc.

and what about their loans ?

Oops, looks like they already increased those…

    • ANZ Plus doesn't have loans

So current ANZ customers will need two apps then?

    • You could close any existing accounts and move all your banking online to ANZ plus.

You would lose access to the branch network if you only use ANZ plus so that needs to be considered.

      • existing accounts and move all your banking online to ANZ plus.

which i guess i could..cept i have a bunch of direct debits linked to my normal anz account lol
why couldnt they just roll the og app into this..like why specifically need two apps.

    • Yes, or three apps if you use ANZ Shield (replaces SMS confirmations)

  • Does anybody know how to log out of this app?

    • Turn off the Quick Login

      • Downloading the update now.
        Still no fingerprint option.
Got quick login off but still no log out button!
        Hope they fix that soon!

        • Download on new device and de register old device?

          • @hopper: Thanks, I only have around 20 old mobiles laying around. Perhaps I should visit our beloved HN store, they still have iphone 11's for $1848 and are happy to sell me an disclose all Optus deal!

I don't love it needs it's own app however, it was incredibly easy to install, get identified and open the account so approve of that which given I'm only using it to earn a little interest and not to operate the account daily is fine.

  • Does the transfer limit still apply?

    • we live in a limited world!
I found the app rather "limited"!!!!!!

    • You can pay up to $30,000/day, BPay or PayAnyone

      • That’s a big improvement on the initial limit of $10,000 to transfer back to your ANZ bank accounts!
