It will probably break after 18 months, just like their toilets

    • You bought xiaomi toilet?

      • Same for their rice cooker, don’t last. Design to break

        • +2

Yeah maybe, i was just surprised he bought xiaomi toilet lol

      • No, but I can vouch for their phones. Redmi 5 going on 5 years now still strong. I'm skeptical about the QC of their appliances though.

As nice as the upgrades are from the previous model, that thing looks hideous.

And guests will be confused cus it looks like a mechanical dispenser.

    • +1

Good point. Old one looks way better

What’s wrong with a simple bar of Country Life soap? Does the job and no plastic gimmicky landfill contraptions required.

    • +3

      I don't think you're the target demographic

      • +1

Someone who likes to wash their hands?

    • Bar soap gets soggy and so can be messy. But the "disposable" liquid soap dispensers are a few bucks. This device seems a bit excessive.

-every time you touch your soap you put bacteria on it. This creates a point of infection.
-you can leave residue on your soap bar eg, soil from gardening, brake dust from vehicles
-a single 1L bottle of soap for this dispenser will last 500+ washes. More environmentally friendly from a logistics point of view
-controlled amount of soap for regular use so less wasted soap
-messy soap dishes with soap bars

I'm sure if i google it there'll be another dozen reasons

Liquid soaps require 5 times more energy to create and 20 times more energy to package in a plastic bottle.

      • -every time you touch your soap you put bacteria on it. This creates a point of infection.

Aren't you washing your hands for a reason? Tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it would matter if the soap bar or soap dispenser were covered in shit, as long as you don't touch it after you've dispensed soap and washed your hands.

Rechargeable, looks similar to old xiaomi and best of all designed to be refilled. Battery lasts quite a long time as well.

    • Weve got this one. Good battery. Recommend.

Was disappointed when I purchased the last version how hard/expensive it was to get refills.

I know you can hack the bottle to refill it but it really should just be a refillable bottle in the first place

    • do i need to touch the power button each time?

  • What’s wrong with the manual pump that comes with all the liquid hand sanitiser. It never fails and don’t require electricity.

Nothing's wrong with em. Some people just prefer touch-free options. I'm one of them. Especially when I have to handle raw chicken or have been out in the garden for a few hours.

The Xiaomi version I have lasts around 2/3 months on a charge and is easy refill.

I bought 4 of this version a year ago for $24/pc and it's still working great. Only need to charge at least every 3 months. You can also refill with any liquid soap. The Xiaomi AAA battery version i bought previously didn't last long, all 3 eventually stopped working after few months of use.

    • I've just purchased one to give it a go… They're now $32 each

  • Is there a good dispenser for NON-foaming soap which runs on something other than AAA batteries (prefer AA or rechargeable)?

    • I'm looking for something similar that can dispense antibacterial gel and can be wall mounted.

  • I havent had much luck with automatic foam soap dispensers. Generally break, have reduced battery after a short period of time (~6 months). I have two other brand ones now constantly plugged into a power point because they'd run out of power after less than a week. Binned at least two others that broke. Mostly good for kids under 4yrs old until they are able to use a normal manual pump well enough. Sunlight in sunny bathrooms also interfere with the IR sensor and either prevent you from using the soap dispenser or falsely trigger it causing it to waste soap, create a mess and drain the battery.

  • You can get similar one for $16 at Bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/estilo-350ml-sensor-soap-dispens…

    • looks good, but no review yet

It's good if you prefer to use 4 AA battery
