Buy Gaming Laptop (Asus X16) Now before Overseas Trip or Wait for Black Friday Sales?

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a Asus X16 laptop which I can get for $3199 ($100 off) the usual sales price of $3299 from the likes of PLE/Centre Com/Rosman/Wireless1/etc. I have a upcoming overseas work trip in end-October which I can use to claim ~$319 GST off. Laptop will be 50/50 work and personal use, so I'm looking to claim 50% from tax too.

I'm needing a new laptop for work by this year-end and not keen to wait till the mobile 4000s series gaming laptops appear in mid-2023 and they won't be cheap anyway. Do you guys think I should wait for a Black Friday sales for the Asus X16 if there is likely to be a >$300 discount, than getting it now and going overseas to claim $319 GST off?

Also, PLE/Centre Com/Rosman/Wireless1 all have free shipping, which one of them has the best customer service/policy for defective laptop returns and is preferable for me to get it from? Warranty for all of the websites is Asus 2-years international warranty. Thanks.

      Thanks buddy, with shipping that comes to be ~$3100 so another $100 off. Should I buy now and claim $310 off the TRS from overseas trip now, or wait for Black Friday?

        I'd just buy it with the TRS now. Because who knows what the sale price would be, never been any deal posted on here for this model yet

        You realise you will need to pay back the tax when you return, unless you leave it overseas.

        They are cracking down on that practice.

    Isnt TRS only for $900 per person?So unless you are travelling as a family, you would be liable to pay back most of the TRS when you come back in to Australia.

    Between PLE/Centre Com/Rosman/Wireless1, which would be the most reliable to buy a laptop from? Would be looking to get them to pricematch Skycomp since I never heard of that. Thanks

      This is the latest Asus premium light gaming laptop line so I don't think it will be heavily discounted until the next gen arrives, say in second half 2023. As I need a laptop by year-end, I will probably get this.

      Any idea which of the retailers PLE/Centre Com/Rosman/Wireless1, are better to buy from? Cheers.

    Just FYI, I'm in love with the X16 as well, but the one you're looking at isn't the maxxxxxed out spec. There's one with Ryzen 9 and a 3070.
